About this property

This wonderful semi-detached cottage is attached to the owner’s home and is located in the small, peaceful market town of Machynlleth, a two minute walk from the town’s amenities. This character property offers cosy accommodation with lovely views of the surrounding countryside and is ideal for families or friends looking to explore this area of Wales. With the train and bus station only a five minute walk away you may even choose to leave the car behind. This cottage has been beautifully-appointed by the owners with lovely attention to detail throughout. You step into the comfortable lounge with its red brick fireplace and slate hearth which houses an electric woodburner-effect fire, the perfect place to curl up and relax together after a busy day of exploring. A step leads from here into the contemporary, well-equipped kitchen with everything you need to rustle up a delicious meal which can be shared together around the dining table. There is a separate utility room which houses a washing machine and an additional basin and WC for your convenience. Upstairs on the first floor is the beautifully-appointed king-size double bedroom, also on this floor is the modern family bathroom which has both a bath for easing those aching muscles after a day of exploring and a separate invigorating shower. A steep narrow turned staircase leads up to the second floor twin eaves bedroom, a cosy retreat for the children. To the outside of the property there is a delightful enclosed courtyard patio where you can relax with a refreshing drink as you gaze across the owner’s fields to the hills beyond and the children will enjoy talking to the owner’s pony. Machynlleth, also known as the ancient capital of Wales offers family-run cafes, restaurants and several take-aways. The local leisure centre is only a five minute walk away complete with indoor swimming pool, and for art lovers the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art ) is also within walking distance. There is something for everyone in this area with walkers being well-catered for with the Glyndwr’s Way on the doorstep, the Dyfi Valley Way nearby or for those seeking a mountain challenge why not head into the Snowdonia National Park and climb Cadair Idris? Mountain bikers have a choice of routes within the Dyfi Forest, or slightly further afield the well-known Coed-y-Brenin beckons, or the Mawddach Trail which offers cycling for all ages and is suitable for wheelchair users and walkers alike. The River Dyfi is easily accessible and offers excellent fishing for brown trout, salmon and sea trout, and for watersports enthusiasts the lake at Clwyedog six miles away is open to all non-powered water craft. If you wish to practice your swing there are several golf courses nearby from 9-hole to 18-hole courses. An excellent property in an area that offers something for everyone.

The small market town of Machynlleth sits amid the rolling hills of Mid Wales. The streets of the town spread out from the 19th Century clock tower, and offer a good mix of specialist shops, pubs, and cafes, in addition to the regular street markets held every Wednesday. The town boasts two art galleries, and is home to the Museum of Modern Arts, Wales, which showcases the work of a variety of international artists, as well as staging concerts and lectures in its 400 seater auditorium. Just ten miles from the coast, Machynlleth is also ideally placed for taking advantage of superb walking, riding, fishing and rock climbing available in the area.

Owners friendly and helpful while their dog proved more than friendly (not always the case!). We are revisiting the cottage next spring.
