About this property

Llansilin 1.3 miles. This detached, L-shaped stone farmhouse is situated in luscious rolling countryside on the outskirts of Llansilin, four and a half miles from Oswestry. Right on the border of Wales and England, Coed Y Gaer is perfect for walkers and cyclists exploring the stunning regions of Powys and Shropshire. Accessed by a long farm track across the owner’s farmland, the property is surrounded by lawned gardens and gravelled patios with outdoor dining furniture. There is a family bathroom and three comfortable bedrooms upstairs, including two with double beds and one with a single. A fourth bedroom can be found on the first floor, reached by its own private staircase from the utility room, with a spacious, master double bedroom. There is also a ground floor twin bedroom and a shower room on the ground floor. The kitchen is bright, with a dining table where everyone can sit and eat together whilst planning the day’s adventures.

There are two sitting rooms, separated by an open doorway, where you can relax with your feet up in comfort. When the sun is out, step outside to enjoy the stunning, seemingly endless views of rolling countryside that surround the Coed Y Gaer. You can dine on the patio and sip a refreshing beverage whilst marvelling at the peace and tranquillity of this sensational location!

There is a pub in Llansilin just over a mile away, as well as shops and eating places in the lovely market town of Oswestry. From this excellent location you can easily visit Shrewsbury, Whitchurch, Powys and Chirk Castle, and even venture into the Snowdonia National Park or Shropshire Hills AONB. An excellent, relaxing holiday destination, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The ancient border market town of Oswestry has restaurants and all usual amenities, along with its extensive and well preserved hill top Iron Age fort which is great for walking and views. Historic houses and castles with beautiful grounds locally include Chirk and Powis Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park, or visit the nearby market town of Ellesmere, once described by Alan Bennet as ‘Shropshire’s Lake District’.
