During the day, climb to the summit of Pen y Fan and enjoy the panoramic views of the Vale of Usk and the Black Mountains. Back at the cottage, take a moment to soak up the lovely garden views from the patio before cooking up an al fresco feast for your loved ones.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by a spacious and stylish lounge. Slip onto the sofa and take a moment to appreciate the cottage’s original features. Then, head to the sleek kitchen to rustle up your favourite meal. Host a sociable dinner in the elegant dining room, which is accessed via a short flight of internal steps, or head out to the pretty courtyard garden to dine alfresco. After dinner, warm your toes in front of the wood burner in the lounge while watching your favourite movie, or if you prefer some peace and quiet, head to the landing to lose yourself in a good book. At the end of the day, make your way upstairs and you’ll find four lovely bedrooms - two doubles, a twin and a single.

Grab your binoculars and head to Llongorse Lake (6 miles) to spend a wonderful afternoon bird-watching. You may be lucky enough to spot great crested grebe, mallard or coot. Alternatively, pack up a picnic, pull on your hiking boots and trek through the breathtaking landscapes of Brecon Beacons National Park (10.5 miles). You’ll be rewarded with some spectacular alpine views.
