A comfortable cottage overlooking the Tennant Canal, within walking distance of the heritage site of Aberdulais and its village facilites. Walk the towpath to Neath, 1.5 miles; Port Talbot beach 10 miles, Swansea 11 miles.

Ravens Retreat is a deceptively spacious mid-terraced cottage overlooking the Tennant Canal at Aberdulais, on the outskirts of Neath, within walking distance of Aberdulais Falls (National Trust) and other interesting waterfall, countryside and canalside walks. This former tin workers' cottage benefits from a private enclosed courtyard to the rear, for relaxing with a drink at the end of a busy day. The towpath to the front provides a 1.5 mile footpath into Neath.

The ground floor of the accommodation comprises:

Entrance Hall: with coat hooks and stairs to the first floor

Living Room: with formal dining table and four chairs overlooking the canal to the front, large leather sofa and leather easy chair, flame-effect electric stove, flat screen TV/DVD player, WiFi

Kitchen: a spacious room with breakfast table and chairs, electric cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, slim dishwasher and washing machine; small rear porch with door to courtyard garden and beyond the rear porch is the ground floor shower room

Shower Room: walk-in shower enclosure with grab rails and drop-down seat, WC, basin

First Floor:

Bedroom 1: a double bedroom looking out onto the canal

Bedroom 2: twin bedroom to the rear

Outside: rear courtyard with decking, patio table and chairs; to the front is a small gravelled area separating the cottage from the towpath access lane; the A465 dual carriageway junction adjacent does cause some road noise to the front, but the rear courtyard is quieter and there is little noticeable road noise inside the cottage

Parking: cars can stop outside to unload, then proceed to the end of the lane where there is a small shared parking area (undesignated spaces); access to the cottage is by a rough, unmade, private lane (former towpath)

The Tennant Canal and locks are being restored at present; it is possible to walk the towpath into Neath (1.5 miles). Aberdulais Falls (Aqueduct, former Tinworks and Waterfalls) is a National Trust heritage site on the doorstep, with walking through the woodlands alongside the waterfalls. Aberdulais provides pubs, eating places, shops, golf course, country parks etc all within a mile or two. The long sandy beach at Port Talbot is a little under 10 miles away and the many facilities of the city of Swansea, Marina, Liberty Stadium, shopping, museums etc around 11 miles.
