About this property

This three-storey holiday home boasts a tranquil, waterside location in the charming village of Gilwern. The property sleeps four guests and is perfect for small families or couples looking to explore the south-east corner of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons). You’ll have endless walking routes to explore from your front door, and for shopping and eating out the vibrant towns of Abergavenny and Crickhowell are both within 5 miles.

The converted textile mill oozes style, with original features complemented by a muted colour scheme and natural materials and fabrics. The main social space is a bright, open-plan kitchen/diner with a choice of dining areas at the breakfast bar or dining table. There’s also a handy utility room and shower room on the ground floor. Upstairs, a characterful lounge awaits with a striking, exposed brick wall and a Juliet balcony overlooking the river. Relax here, stretched out on the low, L-shaped sofa in front of the TV or sipping a coffee at the table by the window. On the second floor you’ll find a pretty double bedroom and a cosy bunk bedroom, along with a contemporary shower room. Outside, there is a small suntrap terrace to the front of the property with tables and benches, or a shaded seating area to the rear offering a cool spot to relax in summer months.

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to walks. From the village, you can follow the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal to neighbouring Llangattock (4.5 miles). Here, you can scale the Llangattock Escarpment for magnificent views across the national park. Other popular routes include the beautiful Clydach Gorge (2 miles) and Sugar Loaf Mountain (6 miles). Gilwern sits on the edge of the Blaenavon World Heritage Centre, which includes fascinating attractions such as the Big Pit National Coal Museum of Wales.
