This summary has been generated using feedback from guests who have stayed at this property

The Byre in Abergavenny boasts a serene setting with stunning views, offering a spacious and well-equipped cottage that guests find comfortable and clean. Visitors are charmed by the presence of peacocks and appreciate the thoughtful touches like welcome treats. The property's location is ideal for exploring the Brecon Beacons and local amenities, with many recommending it as a peaceful retreat.

Cleanliness

Guests consistently praise the cleanliness of the cottage, describing it as 'very clean' and 'spotless'. One mention of the kitchen not being very clean slightly impacts the score, but overall, the high standards are evident.

Location

The location is frequently highlighted as quiet and beautiful, perfect for walks and exploring the Brecon Beacons. Its proximity to Abergavenny and local attractions adds to its appeal, although one review mentioned checking the opening times of places to visit.

Comfort

Comfort is a strong point, with guests finding the cottage spacious and well-appointed. The underfloor heating and comfortable furniture are appreciated, contributing to a relaxing stay.

Facilities

The Byre is well-equipped with everything needed for a stay, including a dishwasher, washing machine, and even a second TV. One mention of a missing toilet roll and a caution about the cooker extractor fan for tall people slightly lowers the score.

Thoughtfulness

Many guests mention the thoughtful gestures of welcome treats such as cakes, biscuits, and flowers. While these gestures are warmly received, it should be noted that such personal touches, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

This superb, semi-detached cottage, lovingly created from a barn conversion on the owners' working livestock farm in the small hamlet of Llanddewi Skirrid, oozes quality and charm. From the moment you walk into the open plan living space with its vaulted ceiling showing off the original beams, the stone walls and the lovely tiled flooring, you will feel relaxed and ready to enjoy your holiday. The spacious double bedroom is down a lovely short flight of wooden stairs and has a delightful en-suite bathroom. The opportunities for walking and cycling from the doorstep of this cottage are endless, along countryside lanes or on the local Skirrid Mountain, the most easterly of the mountains within the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons). Enjoy the animals on the farm and the array of wild birds including red kites flying overhead. Spend a day in Abergavenny or Hay-on-Wye, or discover the region's abbeys, castles, museums and ever-changing scenery. A wonderful cottage for that perfect escape to the country, all year round.

The Welsh hamlet of Llanddewi Skirrid lies amid lovely countryside, 3 miles from Abergavenny, close to the Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons). The famous Walnut Tree restaurant can be found here, and more fine dining at The Fox Hunter restaurant is just a short drive away. Walkers will enjoy the variety of trails around the countryside and up Skirrid Mountain, which is the most easterly peak in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).
