About this property

Ffynnon Wen is a delightful holiday house in a former chapel nestled in the breathtaking Snowdonia countryside. Inside is open plan and sociable, making it ideal for a group of friends or family looking to holiday together in this brilliant part of North Wales. It has incredible views across the water to Anglesey and towards Snowdon, too! The popular village of Llanberis isn’t too far away, so you’re sure to have a brilliant break here.

Nearly the whole first floor is dedicated to the open plan living area. The focal points in this room are the lovely arched windows and a beamed ceiling. The seating area has two squishy leather corner sofas set around a TV with video, DVD player if you can tear your eyes away from the views through the window. There’s also a CD player.

The dining table is solid and sits up to eight. The spacious and well equipped kitchen has all you need to make cooking on holiday easy. There’s a separate utility room with a sink, boiler, washing machine, a ‘Sheila Maid' for drying, and plenty of space for storing walking gear.

Steps lead up from the sitting room into a cosy gallery - here you can curl up on the comfortable sofa with a good book and a glass of wine!

Downstairs are four bedrooms which are a good size. The master bedroom has a 5' bed and a single bed, a TV with Freeview and an ensuite shower room with large shower, loo and wash hand basin.

There's another double bedroom with 5' bed. There are two single bedrooms, one of which also has a trundle bed. On the upper floor is a single bedroom.

The large, bright bathroom has a double-ended bath, separate shower, loo and wash hand basin. The shower room has a wash hand basin and a loo that boasts a great view!

At the front of the house is a small neat lawned area with garden furniture and a barbecue. Ideal for an al fresco dinner, or your morning cuppa! There’s also parking for two cars.

Ffynnon Wen is a welcoming holiday house, ideal for making happy memories on your holiday in Snowdonia. Llanberis, which sits at the foot of Snowdon, is close by. There are attractions, walks and places to eat here that are definitely worth a visit. In this amazing part of Snowdonia you have wonderful walks, quarries, train rides up Snowdon, steam trains around the lake, a castle, Electric Mountain to tour, or head out on the lake! All that the incredible region of Snowdonia has to offer is right on your doorstep.

The village of Dinorwic is approximately 5 miles north of Llanberis, on the border of the Snowdonia National Park, making it an ideal base to explore the National Park. The Llanberis Railway runs nearby along the banks of Lake Padarn, whilst the ruins of Dolbadarn Castle are 2 miles away, or visit Ceunant Mawr, a cascading waterfall just outside Llanberis. Local walks lead to the Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir on the northern slopes of Elidir Fawr. Llanberis is 4 miles away and is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something fantastic for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26 mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. On the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd.

The cottage looked a bit tiered with paint flaking off the walls, mould in places and numerous spiders webs made it feel a bit unclean or not what I’d expect. The welcome book was a bunch of loose leaf pages and so was in no order. The views were amazing though when the rain and cloud cleared. Wi-Fi is not that good, it’s just a dongle so needs some investment overall to make this more than a 3 star stay

However, we requested a cot and we were supplied with a travel cot, without a mattress! There were issues around cleanliness too, in that there were animal hairs on carpets and soft furnishings. We ended up vacuuming one of the bedrooms ourselves, which resolved the problem but made us wonder why it hadn’t already been done. The barbecue was not clean either and we had to clean it. Having said all that, we had a fine time there. The views and the weather made up for a few dog hairs .

.but rotate the blankets that are used for them.. as finding dog hairs on them was not brilliant.. not everyone has nest heating system.. better explanation of how it worked would be better.. Once we knew upstairs 23 down 19.. it was easy!! A knife sharpening steel would be a bonus in draw.. BUT. for room... exceptional..The kids had a ball..The views outstanding..and it's not as remote as picture suggests which in hindsight is nice.. its a 20min drive into Aldi in Bangor..but we used costcutter texaco Garage on main road before turning off onto road towards property..Mensing Bridge is closed if your thinking of going to Anglesey. Use Britania.and expect delays.. Overall.. The whole experience was outstanding.. for a superb walk go out property go left and walk down to bus terminus .. on left is a gate go threw and just walk.. its amazing and the views are outstanding.
