About this property

Trefor 2.5 miles. Sweetholme is a traditional, Welsh cottage nestled in the quaint hamlet of Gyrn Goch on the scenic Llyn Peninsula. This inviting dwelling, which dates back to the 19th century, has been tastefully renovated to provide an exceptional holiday home for families and pets, retaining much of the style and character you would expect from a property of this period. Step inside into the light and airy kitchen/diner, finished with sleek units and a contemporary assortment of appliances, along with a dining table with bench beside an alluring woodburning stove. Move into the lounge, where the exposed beams, feature fireplace and plush settees invite you to unwind after a long day. Follow the stairs and feature wall-piece to reach the bedrooms, housing a king-size with en-suite shower and a twin with pull-out trundle bed, each finished in neutral tones with rustic nooks and crannies. Outside and to the front there is a small garden with floral borders and a lawned area with seating at the side, offering splendid areas for outdoor dining and entertaining. The nearby village of Clynnog Fawr has a beautiful 7th century church and a choice of amenities, including a petrol station with a shop from which you can stock up on the essentials. Head further afield and discover the beautiful Caeau Tan y Bwlch North Wales Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve, or visit the Airworld Aviation Museum for a history-rich activity. Head towards Caernarfon coastline to visit the local sailing club, or discover the charming grounds of the imposing Caernarfon Castle. Those keen cyclists can enjoy the local cycle paths whilst the start of the Snowdonia National Park is nearby and offers unrivalled scenery and walking routes. Alternatively, visit the attractive coastal village of Nefyn and see its graceful sandy beach and choose from a selection of well-established eateries. However you choose to spend your holiday time, return to Sweetholme and start planning the next adventure.

The small community of Trefor, which overlooks Caernarfon Bay and is surrounded by water and mountains, has a harbour with a stone breakwater pier and a protected sandy beach where the Wales Coastal Path passes. Those who are more daring can surf regularly outside the breakwater. A convenience shop, post office and authorised social club are helpful to the community. The Welsh Language and Heritage Centre and restaurant are nearby in the community of Llithfaen. A superb, two-mile stretch of sandy beach, as well as a decent selection of shops, pubs, and restaurants, can be found in the charming coastal town of Nefyn, which is 7.5 miles away. Families and couples enjoy playing golf at the award-winning club there. The facilities of the well-known towns of Pwllheli, Abersoch, Caernarfon, Portmeirion, and Bangor are readily accessible from Trefor. There are fishing, sailing, and watersports accessible, and the area's coastline is lined with castles and coves. Five miles away lies the beginning of the Snowdonia National Park, which features stunning scenery and a variety of wonderful treks. This region is an excellent starting point for a trip to North Wales because it is so close to so many different places.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sweetholme. The weather wasn't great but this didn't stop us from exploring the local beaches and beauty spots, knowing that we would be returning to a cosy cottage. Thank you and I'm sure we will return one day soon.

The cottage is clean, nicely furnished and very well equipped. There was also a lovely garden that we didn’t get to use due to the time of year but our dog enjoyed! The cottage is well located for exploring the peninsula, 20 mins from Abersoch and Nefyn. Although located on a busy A road, we didn’t notice the traffic when inside the cottage. We also had no problem parking our SUV in the now extended parking space.

The cottage is beautifully finished with traditional features and very modern appliances and bathrooms, it felt like we were staying in a boutique hotel that also felt very homely - a winning combination! Very conveniently located for access to the Llyn Peninsula and the rest of North Wales. The best cottage we have stayed in so far. Highly recommended. Many thanks from Ross, Jackie and Bailey the Cockapoo.
