About this property

Caernarfon 3 miles. A beautifully-appointed farmhouse located in a rural location, surrounded by open countryside and mountainous scenery, set in a quiet courtyard, on the owners’ smallholding, close to Caernarfon. Perfectly located, Caer Moel provides an ideal base for couples, friends and families wishing to spend quality time together whilst being centrally situated for all that Snowdonia and the North Wales coast has to offer. Sympathetically and imaginatively refurbished to a high standard, the original part of the farmhouse exudes charm and character with the sitting room boasting exposed ceiling beams and a wonderful inglenook fireplace housing a warming, electric woodburner-effect stove.

The character is also seen in the extended part of the farmhouse, which blends beautifully with the light and spacious kitchen with integrated appliances and an electric range cooker. The kitchen extends to a wonderful dining area with a high-pitched ceiling and lots of natural light from the large window, along with patio doors which lead to a seating area outside, perfect for alfresco dining. From the dining area, French doors lead to a beautiful rear hallway with double height ceiling and a bespoke oak and glass split-level staircase taking you up to a mezzanine landing area, a perfect place for a little ‘me’ time.

A ground floor bedroom with an en-suite shower room is perfect for members of the group who may find stairs a little tricky and also benefits from having a super king-size bed which can also be made up as a twin. Upstairs, there are three good-sized bedrooms, each individually furnished and styled to suit all and benefit from lovely views, taking in open fields and the surrounding countryside, and completing the accommodation is an upstairs bathroom. Outside there's lovely block paved patio areas and seating areas of crushed slate, so peaceful and tranquil, with only the sheep and cows in the adjoining fields for company.

There are lots of walks to enjoy from the cottage, each taking in some wonderful scenery along the way, and within a couple of miles you can enjoy a day on the beautiful Blue flag beach at Dinas Dinlle. If you need to stock up on the essentials, venture to the nearby Morrisons Daily in Bontnewydd, or if you don't feel like cooking, why not treat your loved ones to some hearty fare at the Newborough Arms Pub. There is also a handy Millets store only paces away from the property so you can ensure you have everything you need for your fun-filled adventures; discover the Dinas station of the Welsh Highland Railway close by which dates to the 1800s and is steeped in local history.

The historic harbour town of Caernarfon boasts a wide selection of independent and high street shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. The town is dominated by the majestic medieval castle which overlooks the harbour and is also home to the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway which runs through some stunning countryside. Caer Moel is one holiday cottage you’ll want to return to time and time again.

Caernarfon, the county town of Gwynedd has a 13th Century castle, a Roman fort and museum, shops, pubs and restaurants, a harbour and it's also a stop for the Welsh Highland Railway.

  • Katriona

The place was spacious, clean, welcoming, beautifully scenic and close to town and amentities. We were two families holidaying together and felt so comfortable that we all had the best nights sleep in ages! We hope to return again one day. Thank you.

Huge thank you to Rhian and Wynn, the property was exactly as described, cleaned to a high standard, comfortable and roomy. Pet-free was essential for us due to allergies, and as expected there were no signs of any pets having been in the home. 5 stars all round, excellent property and host, will hopefully be back again at some point!
