Guided tours of the castle and the special events, such as historic pageants are well worth visiting. Other essential attractions nearby are the superb Segontium - a Roman fort and museum and the Welsh Highland Railway, which passes through beautiful scenery. Caernarfon also offers many amenities, such as shops, pubs and restaurants. The area also has many natural attractions such as the beaches situated on the Isle of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula and the breathtaking Snowdonia National Park. Caernarfon and the surrounding area have plenty to see and do at anytime of the year.
