Guests say

Ddol Helyg Barn is a spacious and well-equipped cottage, ideal for large groups and families. Guests consistently praise the friendly and helpful owner, the excellent location for exploring Snowdonia and North Wales, and the ample communal areas. The property’s en-suite bedrooms, dog-friendly policy, and on-site pottery are frequently highlighted. While most reviews note a high standard of cleanliness and comfort, a few mention minor maintenance issues and occasional lapses in cleanliness. Thoughtful touches such as cakes and local information are appreciated, though not guaranteed. Overall, the property offers a welcoming and memorable stay in beautiful surroundings.

Most guests found the property clean and well-maintained, with several describing it as spotless or impeccably clean. However, a small number of reviews mention issues such as dirty bathrooms, a need for a refresh, or minor lapses in cleanliness, which slightly lowers the score.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to Snowdonia, local attractions, and beautiful scenery. Guests appreciate the convenience for exploring the area, with only minor comments about the driveway lighting at night.

The property is described as spacious, comfortable, and ideal for large groups, with en-suite bedrooms and ample communal areas. Some guests mention uncomfortable beds or sofas needing replacement, but these are outweighed by positive comments.

Facilities such as the well-equipped kitchen, en-suite bedrooms, and on-site pottery are frequently praised. A few guests note minor maintenance issues (e.g., oven, showers, TV size), but overall the facilities meet or exceed expectations for most visitors.

Many guests mention thoughtful touches such as cakes, milk, and local information provided by the owner, as well as her helpful and accommodating nature. However, as these gestures are not guaranteed for every stay, guests should not expect them as standard.

About this property

A delightful, stone-built barn conversion with eco-friendly solar powered underfloor heating, five en-suite bedrooms, each with a TV and a large sitting room with woodburner and charming picture window with views over the courtyard. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 1576 to accommodate up to 28 people.

Situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, Llanrug is a small village with two pubs and a shop just three miles from the famous town of Llanberis. Popular amongst walkers, this tranquil settlement is set beneath the Snowdon Massif and flanked by the Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris lakes. As one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park, Llanberis is an ideal spot for walkers and climbers to gather, particularly during the annual Snowdon marathon. For the less energetic holidaymaker, trains travel to the summit at regular intervals giving those unable to climb to the peak a chance to enjoy the incredible views. Back in the town itself there are a number of excellent places to eat and drink as well as a great choice of shops.

We were a group of 10 and had plenty of space. All rooms are ensuite which is even better. Great location for exploring north Wales, so much to see and do within a 30 minute drive. Barbara was a fantastic host.
