About this property

Corwen 4.5 miles. Nestled on the valley side of the Berwyn Mountains, Tyn Y Berth cottage is situated in the small village of Betwys Gwerfil Goch in Denbighshire. Perfect for couples, this retreat is a lovely base for a romantic getaway, whatever time of year you choose to visit. Tyn y berth was originally constructed as a “Day Cottage”. The builder of the cottage could claim the right to the land that was built on, if construction was completed with smoke coming out of the chimney by sunrise of the following day. On entering the house there is a feeling of peace and tranquility, which lends itself to the quiet, sheep swept hillsides of the Berwyn’s. The property offers a sitting room with a woodburner, and a king size bedroom with original wooden beams and a smart TV, accessed by the traditional spiral staircase. The extension holds a fully furnished kitchen, dining room, conservatory and shower room with a top of the range shower with water jets and drencher. The conservatory is in reaching distance of a stream that flows through the property to the Afon Alwen, which lies adjacent the the “Brenig Way”, a diverse and beautiful country walk that takes you along wooded pathways and green meadows. There is also luxury four person hot tub, housed in a modern, private cabin offering spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, perfect for relaxing in. Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty with an abundance of local amenities, there is much to explore in and around the area. The towns of Bala, Llangollen, Betws Y Coed and Ruthin are just a short drive away offering a wide range of activities from water sports to International Festivals and Eisteddfods. Visit the National Trust properties of Chirk Castle and Erddig or explore the atmospheric ruins of Cistercian Valle Crucis Abbey and Castell Dinas Brân. A homely cottage not to be missed.

A town offering plenty of local amenities including a traditional butchers, greengrocers and bakeries as well as a selection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and a leisure centre, trim trail and children’s play area.
