About this property

Tucked away in Gyffin near the historic town of Conwy, North Wales, is this superb two-bedroom house, Castle Cottage. Enjoying a fantastic location with easy access to the beach and the popular towns of Conwy, Llandudno and the village of Betws-y-Coed, Castle Cottage is a fabulous choice for couples or a family of four. Park up roadside and climb eight steps to reach the lovely front garden, featuring seating and an outbuilding with space for bikes and housing a washing machine and tumble dryer. Continue into the property, where you can choose to relax in the light and airy sitting room of an evening, or the inviting snug which features a woodburning stove, both enjoy a TV with Netflix. Look forward to cooking up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen/diner, ready to savour a delicious meal at the dining table for four, or alfresco out in the rear garden over a glass of wine. Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you can indulge in a soothing soak in the corner bath, or rinse off with a refreshing shower, before choosing from two beautifully presented bedrooms, a double and a twin with zip/link, both with plenty of storage. For your local amenities, head into Cowny, where you can dine at The Erskine Arms and The Old White House, visit The Smallest House in Great Britain, tour the remarkable Conwy Castle, explore Plas Mawr, sample fresh seafood at the Mulberry which overlooks the marina, or spend a day at the beach. Cross the bridge over into Llandudno, where you can take a cable car or hike up to the Great Orme offering specatular views, wander along the Victorian Pier and enjoy the delights of two beautiful beaches, catch a live show at Venue Cymru, enjoy a spot of retail therapy at the retail park, or embark up to Angel Bay to see the grey seals which frequent the shores. Rhos on Sea rests nearby, home to its own fantastic beach, as well as Colwyn Bay where you can visit the popular Welsh Mountain Zoo. Further afield, you’ll find Betws-y-Coed, where you can make memories at Zip World Fforest and walks through Fairy Glen. All this and more awaits at Castle Cottage.

Although Conwy has been designated as a World Heritage Site due to its historical and architectural significance, the town's centre is a hive of activity. There is a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and hotels in addition to the many historical sites, musical performances, galleries, and festivals. Conwy Castle, constructed between 1283 and 1287 for King Edward I based on a design by Master James of St. George, is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of mediaeval military architecture. The narrow rocky outcrop the castle sits on likely influenced its peculiar, elongated design, which has two barbicans, eight enormous towers, and a large bow-shaped hall. Many of the town's long-standing customs, such as the Honey fair, Seed fair, and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October and other musical events held throughout the year, are held in honour of the community's rich history and are celebrated each year. Conwy is an excellent home base for excursions to nearby Snowdonia National Park, pristine sandy beaches, and breathtaking vistas. Surf Snowdonia is only a short drive away and the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, home to Europe's longest zip line, is also easily accessible.
