About this property

This delightful, 19th Century solid stone ground floor cottage is situated next to the owners farmhouse and adjacent to a small certified location caravan site in a tranquil 28 acre smallholding on the outskirts of the rural villages of Llansteffan/Llanybri.

With acres of rolling hills and a panoramic uninterrupted coastal views of Laugharne and Caldey Island, Fferm Heol Down Farm was previously an ancient hamlet and is set in peaceful surroundings where you can get back to nature and enjoy slow paced village life.

The Den is a luxury self-contained annex, situated in an original part of the farmhouse at Fferm Heol Down Farm. Contemporary yet full of character, this spacious ground floor cottage has exposed stone walls, wooden beams, complimentary wifi, fully fitted kitchen and a wood burning fire. The Den also has its own entrance, parking and garden for individuals and couples who want complete isolation from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

From the rear of the property, you can enjoy superb, panoramic far-reaching views of the countryside and in particular landmarks such as Caldey Island and the infamous Dylan Thomas' Boathouse in Laugharne. At night, the rural location of The Den makes it an ideal location to stargaze and admire the pretty far away lights of Laugharne Town reflecting off the estuary water.

The all year round, dog friendly Llansteffan Beach is just a 20 minute walk/5 minute drive, so you can easily enjoy long walks or relax with local fish and chips on the beach. The Wales Coastal Path can be accessed from Llansteffan Beach or within a 15 minute walk from The Den. This cottage is ideal for keen walkers and those who enjoy exploring the outdoors with their four legged friends.

For those who want to eat out, the nearest pub/restaurant is a 5 minute walk from the cottage and specialises in authentic Thai cuisine. The village of Llansteffan hosts more pub/restuarants and has a few cafe's, local village shop and two art galleries.

Situated in Carmarthen, the heart of West Wales, The Den has an ideal central location to explore the whole of South West Wales including Pembrokeshire and the Gower Peninsula. Carmarthen is also the oldest Town in Wales and steeped in history. Arthurian enthusiastists will be aware that Carmarthen is widely known as the birthplace of the legendary wizard, Merlin and there are many things to discover locally. Carmarthen is just a 20 minute drive from The Den and further boasts a wide selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. For those who do not wish to drive, The Den is situated on a bus route with daily buses into Carmarthen.

Llansteffan is a lovely seaside village with its own castle ruins, a post office, general store and two pubs specialising in serving local food. This tranquil setting is only a short journey from the county town of Camarthen, which offers visitors a wide range of facilities including numerous shops and boutiques, restaurants, pubs and a thriving daily market. This spectacular part of Wales has always drawn the crowds but there are enough isolated sandy coves and beaches to give everyone the chance to find some peace and quiet. If you're more of an adrenaline junky, the noise and excitement of Pembrey motor racing track is only a short drive away whilst culture-vultures can visit Dylan Thomas' Boat House at Laugharne or the plentiful castles, mills and craft centres in the region. Llansteffan offers a perfect base for a wide range of holidays and is a marvellous introduction to this glorious part of Wales.
