This cottage near Lampeter is a superb conversion of a detached watermill, creating very interesting and spacious accommodation in a contemporary style.

S11225 is a superb conversion of a detached 17th century watermill, creating very interesting and spacious accommodation in a contemporary style. Standing in the owners' 27 acre smallholding and extensive landscaped gardens with a river flowing through, the property is just outside Pumsaint, 7.5 miles south east of Lampeter and about 20 miles from the coast at Aberaeron.  


The property is beautifully finished and furnished to a 5* standard, with lovely attention to detail and retaining interesting original features. There is a fitted kitchen with a high sloping ceiling, electric oven and gas hob, microwave, integrated fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. The ground floor cloakroom with WC and basin also has a storage cupboard with freezer. The living room has a beautiful woodburner in the stone fireplace, large sofa and comfortable armchairs, oak dining table and chairs, flatscreen TV with FreeSat, DVD player, music system, WiFi and French windows into the garden. Upstairs is a stunning bathroom with high sloping ceilings, WC, contemporary bath, basin and a double shower cubicle. The king size bedroom has French windows out onto a decking balcony with a table and chairs. There is also a picnic bench and gas barbecue in the garden area to the front of the cottage.  


Guests are also welcome to walk around the spacious grounds which have been beautifully landscaped by the owner, and to use the garden room. The grounds have an unfenced river flowing through, and there are many peaceful places to sit down and have a picnic, including a wildflower meadow which is stunning in the Spring! Bike storage and bike washing facilities are available. There is a village pub half a mile away in Pumsaint, Dolaucothi gold mines (NT), Brechfa Forest for excellent mountain biking, and keen gardeners will also like to visit the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens. The area is popular for ornithology, with a Red Kite feeding station nearby.

"This is my second stay. Forgot to review last time. My husband and I will be booking again. Love this place. Nice cottage fire and powerful shower. All mod cons. Well worth booking. Lovely peaceful stay, away from hectic work life. Although there isn't a shop nearby, there is a co-op a short drive away. Lovely to wake up to dawn chorus rather than noises of cars. Lovely gardens to take a walk in and not spoilt by orange streetlights on the horizon. Hope to come back next year."
