Three Gates is a quaint and characterful cottage nestled in the tranquil surroundings of Anglesey, offering a rustic charm and proximity to coastal walks. Guests appreciate the peacefulness, dark skies, and the ability to explore nature right from the doorstep. The property's remote location and woodburning stove provide a cosy atmosphere, making it a lovely retreat for those seeking a quiet getaway.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cleanliness of the cottage received mixed feedback. While some guests found it acceptable, several noted issues such as dust, cobwebs, and a general need for a deeper clean. These comments suggest that cleanliness could be improved to enhance guest satisfaction.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquillity, with guests loving the remote setting and proximity to nature and coastal paths. The challenging access track adds to the secluded feel, although it may not suit all vehicles.

Comfort levels are varied among guests. Some found the cottage cosy and welcoming, while others mentioned that the beds and seating could be more comfortable. The rustic charm adds to the experience, but some furnishings may benefit from an update.

Facilities and maintenance are adequate but have room for improvement. Guests mentioned issues with the shower, kitchen equipment, and the log burner. While the cottage is well-equipped in some respects, attention to maintenance details could enhance the overall experience.

There are mentions of thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and a lit fire upon arrival, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. However, as these gestures are not consistently referenced, it is not possible to accurately assess the level of thoughtfulness for all stays.

About this property

This lovely little holiday cottage, in a peaceful location on the south eastern corner of Anglesey, offers simple comforts in a most delightful way. A combination of slate flags, quarry tiles, wood flooring, reclaimed doors, artwork, vintage accessories and quirky details such as the hand made swallows in flight on the vaulted ceiling, makes Three Gates a beautiful place to stay.

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, larder fridge and freezer, washing machine, microwave and toaster. There is a dining table and four dining chairs.

The sitting room has a comfortable sofa and chairs, woodburning stove set in an inglenook and a flat screen TV.

There is a downstairs shower, loo and wash hand basin.

Stairs from the kitchen diner lead up to the bedroom which is furnished with antique small double bed and a single, perfect for a couple or small family.

There is a small reading area with chair and lamp on the gallery / balcony overlooking the kitchen diner.

The large garden has a variety of seating options and there is space for parking.

There is a footpath leading down to the beach which is about a twenty minute walk. You are also only a ten minute drive away from the popular seaside town of Beaumaris which has a good variety of pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops and attractions.

If there are more than two in your party then you can also book Ty Felin next door, which sleeps 5.

Please note, as the name implies, you reach the cottage along a farm track that has three farm gates which you will have to open and close every time. It is worth it though!

The village of Llangoed is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the beautiful east corner of the Isle of Anglesey, offering a shop and Post Office. Nearby is the fascinating and attractive town of Beaumaris, boasting a 13th century castle, Georgian and early Victorian houses and shops, a number of excellent tea rooms, restaurants and stylish shops, and a delicatessen. Visit the town’s old courthouse and Victorian gaol, or the pier where you can fish for crabs or catch a boat to see the birds on Puffin Island. From the pier and promenade there are spectacular views across the Menai Straits and Snowdonia. Nearby Penmon Priory, founded in the 6th Century by Saint Seiriol and with its Holy Well and Dovecote, is just a short walk away on the coastal footpath.
