Guests say

Glan Y Mor 1 is a spacious cottage with stunning sea views and a prime location close to the beach and local amenities. While some guests have concerns about the property's dated aspects and maintenance, the charm and excellent setting often compensate for these shortcomings. The property's suitability for large groups and families is frequently praised.

Cleanliness has been a point of contention among guests, with several noting issues such as a fusty smell, a dirty kitchen table, and an unclean fridge. However, some guests found the property clean upon arrival.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach and local amenities, offering wonderful views and a convenient setting that guests consistently appreciate.

Comfort is a concern for many guests, with frequent complaints about hard mattresses and dated furniture. However, the spaciousness of the property provided adequate comfort for some guests.

Facilities and maintenance issues are mentioned, including faulty appliances, broken fixtures, and a lack of modern amenities like updated TVs. Despite this, the property's space and layout are often seen as beneficial.

While some guests appreciated the provision of clean towels, fresh linen, and dishwasher tablets, there is no consistent mention of gifts or additional thoughtful touches to warrant a score in this category.

Lovely big house in an amazing location, stones throw from the beach and lovely bars and restruants. The middle floor with lounge and balcony overlooking the sea is stunning It is slightly dated in the bathrooms but we felt that just added to the charm of the property, we will 100% be returning

We recently stayed here with family and friends and absolutely loved it. The place was big enough to accommodate us all comfortably, with plenty of facilities for everyone. The location is simply stunning – the views are absolutely breathtaking.Everything was well thought out, with clean towels and fresh linen provided, along with little touches like dishwasher tablets that made things easier. We had one or two small issues during our stay, but these were resolved very quickly and without any hassle.Overall, it was the perfect break in the most gorgeous setting. We can’t wait to book our next stay!

Glan Y Mor is such a missed opportunity and is clearly nothing but a money spinner for the owners unfortunately. This is the 3rd time in 5 years we have stayed here. Unfortunately, the deterioration of the property has been noticeable during each stay with no investment in or work done to the property. Yes, I know we are gluttons for punishment going back! There are some really positive aspects to the property. The location is second to none, less than 50 yards to the beach, wonderful views from the 1st and 2nd floors, a lovely, sheltered garden, south west facing, close to amenities and a wonderful size with spacious rooms. We booked it for this trip as we were staying with friends with 2 teenage children and needed the space for everyone, and in this respect it worked really well. Unfortunately, this is where the positive feedback ends. We were incredibly lucky with the weather which meant we could leave the doors open all the time and we weren’t stuck inside all week, which was a blessing. The airing of the house helped to get rid of the terrible fusty and damp smells in most rooms and more importantly the drains from the bathrooms and kitchens. If it had been a wet week that would have been a struggle. All 3 double rooms have the oldest and most uncomfortable mattresses we have come across. The ground floor double has a huge hole in it with filling coming out. The top floor double mattress is unusable as it is basically springs and dips. We would advise not stay if you have back issues. The single beds ironically are better but still very firm. The sofa in the lounge is ok. The TV didn’t work properly 3 years ago so we didn’t try it this year. All of the bathrooms are very dated. The top floor ensuite has peeling paint all over, bath panels that rattle in the wind and a very badly designed shower screen which means the shower sprays into the room. The ground floor en-suite smells terrible and has done so on each stay. No amount of bleach can fix it - we tried several times - and to make matters worse the window is locked and can’t be opened. As this bathroom is close to the kitchen the smells leak in that direction which is very unpleasant. The kitchen and dining room is a great space for a big group but is pretty run down now. The dishwasher leaks on a hot wash, the sink smells and there is a gas smell from the boiler when you run the hot tap. This is probably just the location of the boiler right next to the sink but is a little unsettling at first. I suspect the local charity shops have done well with the owners buying all their kitchen utensils there as nothing matches, which would be fine if at least it was clean! As others have stated in their reviews, the general cleanliness is not great. One of the biggest disappointments is the lack of comfort and additions though. The 2 picnic benches outside are great, but there were no cushions for them and the same for the decrepit benches on the balcony. We bought cushions from Holyhead to make it more comfortable during our stay and left them for future use, so I hope they are retained, along with the barbeque we left there. When we arrived on Friday the Wi-Fi wasn’t working and I discovered it hadn't been the previous week either. This was fixed halfway through our stay. Overall, it is such a shame. The property is a traditional home, so I understand it is going to show some wear and tear which would be fine, but there is a difference between wear and tear and overall neglect from the owners. It is one of the cheaper properties of its size in the bay but I suspect that is only because of the state of the property and the reputation locally and amongst former guests now. It wouldn’t take much to invest a small amount of the several thousand charged each peak season week to make a difference but I suspect they will simply cash in and sell it sooner rather than later. I would recommend avoiding if you can.
