About this property

Fisherman's Cottage is a stunning former chapel located in Malltraeth, Wales. The property has been completely renovated into a contemporary holiday home, ideal for families looking for a countryside break. With the sitting room to the front of the house, you have views over the lovely, enclosed front garden, as well as features such as the attractive oak panelling wall. Settle down on the corner sofa and enjoy the benefits of the mounted, flat screen TV and cosy woodburning stove. The open-plan kitchen is wonderfully appointed at the rear of the property with newly fitted white units and wooden worktops. It is fully-equipped, with a range of appliances to suit your cooking needs. The dining area is spacious with seating for up to six people, where you can gather for lovely family meals, or to plan the day's events. Upstairs, you will find three bedrooms across two floors. The first floor has a lovely family bathroom with many modern fixtures and fittings. Outside has a wonderful lawned garden and patio area with furniture and a luxurious hot tub, the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day sightseeing, with a refreshing glass of wine. There is also off-road parking available for two cars. Malltraeth has many nearby attractions, including the National Trust house and grounds of Plas Newydd, with so many things to do! Your little ones will love the new Frisbee golf course, as well as a cool tree house and a historical museum with the world's first articulated wooden leg. Parents can enjoy long walks through the woodland and along the Menai Straits - even a boat ride! Fisherman's Cottage is the perfect place to stay in order to access many of Malltraeth’s finest sights.

The small village of Malltraeth lies in the south west corner of Anglesey, at the head of the long inlet formed by the Cefni Estuary and close to the popular Newborough Forest and Warren sand dunes. Malltraeth Pool and the magnificent sweep of marshes and sand dunes, which stretch south to Llanddwyn Island, are all part of a National Nature Reserve. The whole area is renowned for its birdlife and Malltraeth was once home to the famous wildlife artist Charles F Tunnicliffe. There are wonderful forest and coastal walks from the village, which has a pub, a cafe serving afternoon tea and a chip shop (also selling basic items/newspapers etc). Close by are beautiful beaches at Llanddwyn (reputedly the 4th best in Britain), Aberffraw, and Cable Bay, or head to Rhosneigr, which is renowned for its all year round watersports facilities.

Lovely, cosy environment, excellent for family holidays. Hot tub big enough for 6, only thing I would say is properly needs a light outside near hot tub. Essentials already in the home, even for the dogs. Leaflets available and recommendations given of the best walks and food near by. Overall we loved our stay here, can not fault it. Note: it is extremely hard and near impossible to get a taxi from this location.

We had a lovely stay even though the weather was definitely not good. We thought that it would have been nice to have some sort of lighting with the hot tub as it was dark by the time we got settled into the cottage. Also there was only one small light in the lounge apart from the full brightness of the ceiling lights. We had to bring our bedroom lights down when we watched a movie. One of the ovens functions does not work, it is the left hand side dials on the fan and there wasn’t any instructions for the oven. No recycle bin only a general rubbish bin. Not enough coat hangers. Would have preferred two more proper chairs at the kitchen table instead of a bench, we sat in the kitchen quite a lot

Inside there is plenty of space and most things that you would need during your stay, augmented by a welcome basket of useful goodies. Our main issue was with the bath on the top floor. This is a stand-out feature when compared to other properties and one of reasons we picked this property. Unfortunately when my wife tried to use the bath it moved as she tried to get in, so she tried to get out immediately and it moved again, almost causing her to slip and fall. As the bath moved it also caused a leak, which we moped up quickly with a towel. On inspection it was obvious that the bath is not fasted to the floor and can be moved easily with one hand. This is dangerous and it was only luck that she didn’t badly hurt herself. The bath should be properly secured, or if this is the way it is supposed to be, then a warning sign should be provided to prevent further incidents. We informed Sykes Cottages about this and somebody came to the property while we were out, but they didn’t secure the bath or provide any further information, so the bath was not usable during our stay. Furthermore: - The advertisement states the property has Netflix, which it does, but although it was possible to log into the guest account, whenever we selected a programme to watch, it would exit from Netflix and go back to the TV, so it was unusable. - The DVD player is not connected to the TV, so couldn’t be used and the batteries in the remote seemed to have corroded. - The sofa is not very comfortable as the springs seem to have gone saggy Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the property to friends, and do not think it was good value given the above problems. We await your response to the above.
