About this property

Newborough 3.9 miles. Derlwyn is a delightful terraced cottage, lying in the idyllic rural village of Hermon, Anglesey. This wonderful holiday home is the ideal spot for an artists retreat or for families of six and their canine companions, looking for an enthralling adventure in Wales, surrounded by beautiful scenery. After a morning spent exploring the local area, enter the bright and airy porch and pull off your mud splattered boots before stepping into the charming sitting room and making your way to the inviting sofas, where you can relax and unwind as you admire the character and history of the exposed stone fireplace and wood burning stove. Set the dining table as the chef of the group takes to the amply-fitted kitchen to prepare a fast for the whole family, to be enjoyed as you plan your escapades for the day ahead and toast to a holiday to remember. After an evening of laughter and entertaining board games, climb the staircase to the first floor and retire to one of the delightfully decorated bedrooms. A king-size bedroom hosts plenty of storage for housing your belongings, whilst a family bedroom can be found across the way and features a double bed as well as a bunk bed. In the morning, make your way to the family bathroom and soak up the suds in the bathtub or wake yourself up with a refreshing shower. Sip on a morning brew in the conservatory as you slip on your shoes and step out into the garden for a breath of fresh air. Bask in the summer sunshine as you dine alfresco and the children run freely in the garden. Make the most of your time in the area and visit all of the best local attractions. Venture into Caernarfon and explore the magnificent castle, or head to Gypsy Wood Park with the children for a bounce on the trampolines and a visit to the Musical Tree-house. Take a scenic journey into the centre of Snowdonia with a ride on the vintage steam trains at Llanberis Lake Railway, or catch some waves at the populare Rhosneigr Beach. Both Cable Bay and Aberffraw are within 8 mins away, almost on your doorstep and are both worth a visit. Aberffraw with its quiet unspoilt sandy beach, reached by walking through the estuary and is part of the Anglesey Coastal Path, and 7th Century Church which still holds services in the summer and is sometimes used for weddings, it’s perfect for blowing away the cobwebs. While exploring the island make sure you visit Cable Bay, a lovely little sandy beach set in a sheltered inlet and backed by gentle sloping dunes it is a perfect family beach. Complete with rock pools and the site of Barclodiad-y-Gawres one of the most important neolithic sites with a cruciform passage supposedly an ancient burial ground for one of the Druids. Along the coastline of this beautiful Island are perfect spots for fishing where you can catch one of the native species which inhabit the Menai Strait and Irish Sea, with most of the coastline being part of the Marine Conservation society it ensures all the waters and beaches are kept clean for wildlife to thrive and visitors enjoy, why not take your easel and paints purchased from the owner and head down to one of the many beautiful spots along this coast. Don't worry if you don't get it all in one visit you can always come back. On your return to the cottage, stop off for a pint at one of the friendly local pubs or pick up some ingredients for a quiet night in with some scrumptious home-cooked food.
