Eilean Donan Cottage in Kirknewton receives consistently glowing feedback for its welcoming hosts, peaceful setting, and excellent access to Edinburgh and local amenities. Guests praise the immaculate cleanliness, spacious and comfortable interiors, and well-equipped kitchen. The property is described as quiet and private, with thoughtful touches such as a welcome basket on arrival, though these are not guaranteed. Minor issues, such as occasional Wi-Fi or shower pressure concerns, are rare and do not detract from the overwhelmingly positive experience. The cottage is highly recommended for both leisure and work stays.
Cleanliness is frequently highlighted, with guests describing the property as spotlessly clean, beautifully equipped, and immaculately maintained. Only one review mentioned a shower needing a deeper clean, but this was an isolated comment among many positive remarks.
The location is praised for its peaceful countryside setting, proximity to Edinburgh, and convenience to local shops, train station, and major roads. Some guests noted the property is a short drive from amenities, but this was not seen as a drawback.
Guests consistently mention the cottage's comfort, with references to spacious interiors, cosy atmosphere, and comfortable beds. The property is described as a home from home, ideal for relaxing after exploring the area.
Facilities are highly rated, with the kitchen described as very well equipped and the property offering all mod cons. Occasional minor issues, such as TV reception in high winds or a suggestion for a new hoover, were noted but did not impact overall satisfaction.
Many guests mention a generous welcome basket and helpful, friendly hosts who respect privacy. While these thoughtful touches are frequently noted, it should be politely stated that such gifts are not guaranteed.

After a rather eventful journey!, when we arrived we were greeted by the owner who showed us around the bungalow which was beautifully equipped and very clean, a very comfortable place to stay, our issue which is no fault of the owners was that we were let down by car hire company so we had to use the train, the station is approximately 20 minute walk from the bungalow, not sure of any local shops or places to eat.But as I said no fault of owners, thank you for being so welcoming and thank you for the milk.
