This beautifully appointed single storey cottage with its delightful sea and countryside views is over 100 years old and has lovely feature stone walls reflecting its history. As its name suggests, Gardener’s Cottage was the former residence of the gardener of Ardmillan Castle located just over a couple of miles from Girvan in Ayrhsire. 400 years ago the castle was described thus, “The Castle of Ardmillan looked like a palace with its deep cut ditch, its large courtyard, its capacities for siege-standing, its early pears and apples.” Originally a fishing port, Girvan is now a small seaside resort and during the summer it is possible to sail around local landmarks on the lovely paddle steamer, the Waverley.
While the garden is totally enclosed, there is a pond and hens in the vicinity of the property.

We had a lovely weekend at Gardeners cottage. The host Anne was so helpful. Especially as I had booked the wrong start date and arrived the day before. She found us a hotel and allowed us in at 10am next day to deposit our bags being that her other clients left at 7am.Lovely decor, quite dark as small windows but lent to the cosy cottage atmosphere. I loved the kitchen. Big farmhouse table and everything you might need. Roll top bath was so restful. Our disabled friend has an ensuite with walk in shower. There are several steps to get in, but a path round to back entrance for a small wheel chair lovely veiw of Ailsa Craig and well away from any noisey roads.Nice sunny conservatoire and gorgeous garden. Ann lives next door and keeps geese ducks hens goats etc. There is a double fence and trees between you and the geese. But I said Good morning to the geese each day. First morning I could see a woodpecker on an old tree trunk. Highly recommend.
