The Barn in Brodick offers a peaceful and comfortable stay with its proximity to beaches and local amenities like The Lagg Inn and Kilmory Community Hall. Guests appreciate the secure garden, sea views, and the cottage's equipment, though some minor maintenance issues and the lack of a welcome pack are noted.
The property is generally described as clean, but some guests noted issues such as a mouldy shower tray and grease on kitchen surfaces. The cleanliness is satisfactory, but there is room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its tranquility, proximity to beaches, a local pub, and a distillery. It's well-located for exploring Arran, with beautiful surrounding countryside and walks.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, though some mention the beds being too soft. The presence of separate bathrooms adds to the comfort, despite some challenges for taller individuals.
The Barn is well-equipped, but several reviews mention broken garden furniture, issues with appliances, and a need for better maintenance. The facilities meet basic needs but require attention to detail.
While guests mention the absence of a welcome pack that was expected, there is not enough information to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the host. Therefore, this score is set to null.

We enjoyed our stay at The Barn. There are good walks from the cottage. Details need updating as a welcome pack was mentioned but there wasn't one. Also logs for the fire but only one log & no kindling.

The Barn was well equipped and clean and we enjoyed our stay there. We found the beds really comfy and there’s a shower downstairs and a bath with shower attachment upstairs. The Lagg Inn is a 10 minute walk and the beach is a 10 to 15 minute walk. The Lagg Inn is very welcoming and dog friendly too so it was a good local for us.The garden at the property is secure for small dogs but not sure it would be for bigger dogs. The outside area isn’t big, really just a gravel drive with a decking area at one end. As other reviewers have said, the garden furniture is in need of some attention and is very wobbly and doesn’t feel completely safe.

We had a lovely week on Arran. The property was well located for exploring the south and west of the island, and also for visiting Lagg Distillery. The Lagg Hotel was close at hand, and offered a friendly welcome and good food. The property was clean and reasonably well equipped, but would benefit from sprucing up. There were quite a few marks and chips on the walls and woodwork. The towels need renewing. Sadly the outside seating area was unusable due to the furniture being broken and unstable. For the property to be really suitable for dogs (and children) as advertised, the gate needs to be more secure.
