Hillcrest is a striking single-storey retreat set within a working sheep farm, surrounded by the rolling beauty of the Scottish Borders. With space for up to eight guests, and a warm welcome for both pets and horses, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and simply take in the sweeping views of the Minto Hills. Step inside and you’ll find a bright, open-plan living space designed for easy, comfortable days. There’s a well-equipped kitchen with everything you might need – from a coffee maker for early mornings to a dishwasher and washing machine to make life simple.

The dining area brings everyone together for relaxed meals, while the lounge, with its log-burning stove and Smart TV, is made for laid-back evenings after a long walk or ride across the hills. The property’s four bedrooms offer plenty of flexibility: two zip/link rooms that can be set up as super kings or twins, a double, and a cheerful bunk room that’s perfect for children. With three bathrooms – including an en-suite with a walk-in shower, a family bathroom with an accessible tub, and a fully accessible wet room – comfort and convenience come as standard. Bed linen, towels, a travel cot and highchair are all provided, and the home is fully heated with fast WiFi throughout.

Outside, a private patio invites you to sit back with a glass in hand, fire up the barbecue or sink into the hot tub beneath vast, star-filled skies. There’s off-road parking, and stabling can be arranged if you’re bringing horses. Farm hampers are available too, featuring fresh eggs or locally sourced barbecue boxes. Just a short drive brings you to Hawick, known for its cashmere mills and friendly local shops, while Jedburgh and Selkirk offer charming market-town appeal. Venture further to Gretna Green, steeped in romantic history, or simply stay local to walk, cycle or spot wildlife on your doorstep. Whatever your pace, Hillcrest promises a true taste of Borders life – peaceful, scenic and wonderfully inviting.

One of the Scottish Border towns and winner of many national floral awards, Hawick is a wonderful location for enjoying a break. Along with the rich history of the town and area which dates back to the 12th century, the town is internationally famous for its fine quality knitwear, and is home to a fantastic collection of shops selling both knitwear and cashmere. It is part of the TextileTrail thanks to the Borders Textile Townhouse where you can learn all about the industry within a restored 16th century tower house. Over in the Hawick Museum and Scott Gallery, you can wander around the exhibits detailing the town's history and marvel at the art, before taking a stroll through Wilton Lodge Park which rests on the banks of the River Teviot and providing 107-acres of grounds to roam. Within the town you can find a leisure centre, pubs, shops and a great selection of restaurants, from fine dining to cheap and cheerful. Hawick is a fantastic base from which to explore other neighbouring towns, such as Jedburgh, Selkirk, and Tweedbank.
