About this property

This beautiful converted stable is located next to the owners’ working arable and livestock farm in rolling countryside, a mile from the Borders village of Chirnside. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful break for just the two of you, miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then look no further. Enter the cottage into the spacious, open plan living area which boasts a well-equipped kitchen with all the essentials for rustling up a countryside gourmet dinner, which you can then enjoy at the dining table. Afterwards simply kick off your shoes and curl up on the two sumptuous sofas to relax and enjoy your evening. On warmer days, from the living area you can go straight out onto the patio, a lovely spot for breakfast or for alfresco dinners. The enclosed garden and patio are a sun trap, and what could be nicer than chilling out in your own enclosed garden, relaxed in the knowledge that your doggies can’t stray and are safe within your sight. When the country air finally gets the better of you and bedtime beckons, your delightful king-size bed awaits and the underfloor heating in the en-suite shower room will ensure your toes don’t get cold. Walkers and cyclists alike will enjoy the easy access to the surrounding countryside, plus this cottage is ideally located for exploring further afield in the Borders or the beautiful Berwickshire coast. Beyond Chirnside is the attractive Borders town of Duns and with Edinburgh and Alnwick all within easy reach, The Garden House offers the perfect location for a romantic break in this wonderful part of The Borders. EPC Rating: Band D

Chirnside takes its name from the ancient Cairn that stood on a hill to the east of the village. It is perched on the ridge between the historic, walled town of Berwick-on-Tweed and Duns, overlooking the Tweed Valley and the distant Cheviots. The village itself is incredibly picturesque and prides itself on its many beautiful gardens. Eight miles away, you'll find the glorious, sandy beaches of Coldingham and Eyemouth, with its working harbour. Nearby attractions also include Maderston, Mellerstain, Paxton House and Ayton Castle. The grounds of the Hirsel ad Duns Castle Estate are also open to the public, as is St Abbs Head; a nature reserve run by the National Trust. The River Tweed provides fantastic opportunities for fishermen, walkers and bird-watchers and there is much evidence of the region's historic and turbulent past to be found in the spectacular countryside.

Really good quality furnishings and linens, very clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was so well equipped with everything you could possibly need and again all great quality. The garden is a real bonus. Sue and Steve the owners obviously care about the comfort of their visitors and are lovely people. Loved the place. The area is great being so close to the beautiful coast and beaches and lovely places inland too. Chirnside has a few shop including a handy small co-op. The local primary school is a beautiful Art Deco protected building, and there is a local connection to Jim Clark the racing driver.

We had a really fantastic time. Perfect setting. The garden was so much more than we were expecting. We spent a week from 9th February. Will definitely be back

Absolutely perfect. Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean, and well equipped.Lovely enclosed garden. The owners are very welcoming and were kind enough to leave a very generous welcome pack which provided us with breakfast throughout the wk. A genuinely dog friendly cottage with lots of extras provided to help our two dogs enjoy their stay as much as us. We had a very pleasant and restful stay. Thank you.
