Strathclaggan is a highly praised cottage in Aberlour, appreciated for its comfort, modern amenities, and beautiful setting. Guests enjoyed the well-equipped house, the wood-fired hot tub, and the wildlife visits. Its location is ideal for exploring Speyside and beyond, despite some difficulty with temperature control during warmer weather. The property is well-suited for family holidays, offering a thoughtful touch with provisions for babies and a commendable attention to detail.
There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide a score for this category.
The location is frequently highlighted as great, with the property being within walking distance to Aberlour and a convenient base for exploring Speyside. The proximity to beaches and distilleries adds to the appeal.
The house is described as comfortable and spacious, with modern facilities. However, there was a mention of the house being very warm without clear instructions on how to adjust the temperature, which slightly affects the comfort score.
The property is well-equipped with a large fridge freezer, ice maker, and a wood-fired hot tub. However, there was an issue with the accuracy of the bedroom layout description, and the lack of instructions for the thermostats suggests room for improvement in maintenance.
While the reviews mention that the owners have thought of everything to ensure a comfortable stay, including provisions for a baby, there is no mention of gifts. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score for thoughtfulness in terms of gifts, and guests should not expect them as guaranteed.

Rising in the southern part of the Monadhliath massif, the River Spey flows through some of the most beautiful scenery before disgorging its cool, clear waters 172km later at Spey Bay in the Moray Firth. It is the ninth longest river in Britain, and the third longest and fastest flowing in Scotland. Renowned for its salmon, the river entices fishermen from all points of the compass to come and pit their wits against the ’King of Fish’. But it is not only the fishing that draws people to Speyside; this area is rich in history with many fine examples of castles and other historical sites, as well as being home to over 50 distilleries, each producing its own distinctive amber fluid. Taking its name from the river through which it flows, Speyside is a walkers’ paradise and a mecca for crafters and artists, who come for the unique quality of light, the vast open skies, breath-taking sunrises and sunsets, and just for the sheer exuberance of the area. Once visited, it is never forgotten. Strathclaggan is the perfect stay for all who come here to indulge their passion for whisky, castle hopping and munro bagging, skiing, off-road driving, kayaking, white water rafting and, of course, fishing. This diverse and stunningly beautiful area is mesmerising in any season, what are you waiting for?

We had a lovely holiday at this house. The house itself was really comfortable, modern, plenty of room and all facilities you would expect. You could walk into Aberlour, although walk back is all uphill but easy enough if you took your time. Great location to explore all the Speyside offers. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Lovely house in the middle of a spectacular area. Beautiful beaches and HOpeman, Nairn and Findhorn less than an hour away. Fantastic whisky distilleries on your doorstep. Hot tub is great once you’ve tended to it for three hours.
