The Den is a charming and cosy cottage in a tranquil Highland setting, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped facilities. Guests consistently highlight the peaceful location, beautiful views, and abundance of local wildlife, including red squirrels and deer. The property is ideally situated for exploring the Cairngorms and nearby towns. Hosts are described as friendly and helpful. While the space is best suited to families or smaller groups, and there are minor comments about shower pressure and single bed comfort, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a highly recommended base for a Highland getaway.
Multiple reviews describe The Den as spotlessly clean, immaculate, and tidy, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness. This consistent praise justifies a very high score.
Guests repeatedly mention the stunning, peaceful location with great views and easy access to local attractions and walks. The proximity to Newtonmore and the Cairngorms is highly valued. Occasional mention of background road noise is noted but not seen as a significant drawback.
The Den is described as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with particular praise for the double bed and overall furnishings. Some guests note the single beds are better suited to children, and there are minor comments about shower pressure, but overall comfort is rated very highly.
The property is well equipped, with guests appreciating amenities like the coffee machine, decking, and wildlife feeders. Minor suggestions include improved oven trays, larger towels, and an EV charger, but these do not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.
Guests frequently mention welcoming touches, helpful hosts, and thoughtful amenities such as local information books and wildlife feeders. While some reviews reference welcoming gestures, please note that gifts or extras are not guaranteed with every stay.

This beautifully finished, detached, Highland lodge is situated almost exactly in the central point of Scotland; a monument marking the point is just a short walk down the lane. The Den is perfectly located to explore the Cairngorms National Park, but because it is so central in the Highlands and the country, there are also amazing sights to see within a short drive. Ben Nevis lies to the west, whilst Inverness and the Black Isle are to the east.
The Den is set in a lovely, quiet site with space all around and views of the Cairngorms. It is less than ¾ mile from the A9, and is very conveniently located for a short break to explore this amazing part of Scotland, maybe as part of a larger tour. Arriving at The Den, you will be immediately pleased with its location and how it has been finished. Its spacious, open plan layout has been decorated beautifully, and has an enormous amount of light flooding in. A patio door leads out onto the large decking area, which has an excellent aspect of the mountains. It is the perfect spot to sit in with a glass of wine in the evening. The site has a lot of shared space to explore with children, including a large play area. It is also a great site for dogs because there are many walks to explore right from the doorstep. If you have your own horse, stabling is available by direct arrangement with the owner, who lives on the adjacent farm. The village of Newtonmore is only a few miles away with pubs and restaurants, as well as a supermarket. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
The Den can be booked together with Cruachan (UK13683) to accommodate up to 10 guests.

The children's play area, sitting-out area and stabling is shared with other properties on site.
The water is from a spring, well or borehole, and not a mains supply.

It’s our second stay here and we had a wonderful week again. The accommodation is so clean and tidy and lovely and warm as soon as you arrive. The only little thing I would recommend is larger shower towels, i like to wrap up in mine, but this is a personal preference. I always book a home delivery so it comes just as we arrive which works perfectly. Pitlochry is a must, such a beautiful little town and everyone is so friendly. There is so much to do and explore regardless of the weather. Waking up each morning to the wild Deers grazing and red Squirrels is just a delight. We are already booked, ready for next year and the count down is on. Thank you x

We had a great stay in The Den. Beautiful lodge with everything you need. The beds were very comfortable and all the other furnishings were lovely too. It was nice and warm too. The location is very scenic and peaceful with lots of lovely walks. Nearest shop is in Newtonmore.. We had deers roaming in front of the lodge and red squirrels up the trees. Horse field close by with some goats as well. Great place and highly recommend.

The Den was the perfect retreat for a week’s getaway! Nestled just off the A9 and around 20 minutes from Aviemore, you’d never guess you were so close to the main road, as the park itself feels wonderfully peaceful and secluded with amazing views and red squirrels. The lodge was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable, with lovely, cosy beds that made it easy to relax and unwind. There’s a beautiful river nearby, and the Centre of Scotland stone is just a short walk away. We also found The Den to be in a fantastic central location for exploring the surrounding area, with plenty of days out and some wonderful walks right on the doorstep. The only downside for us was the lack of EV charging facilities on site or at the lodge. Having an electric vehicle meant a little extra planning and travelling, so an on-site charger would have been a fantastic addition. That said, there are plenty of charging points within a reasonable distance.Overall, we had a lovely, relaxing stay at The Den. It’s a peaceful, comfortable base in a great location for exploring the area, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in beautiful surroundings!
