Brightwater Cottage is a well-loved, remote retreat offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, good WiFi, and the proximity to nature, with wildlife sightings adding to the charm. The local community is friendly, enhancing the stay. Some minor maintenance issues are noted, but the overall experience is highly regarded, with many looking forward to returning.
There are no specific comments regarding the cleanliness of the cottage, so it is not possible to provide a score for this category.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquillity, with guests loving the remote setting and proximity to nature. The views of the loch and wildlife sightings are particular highlights, although the difficulty in finding the cottage due to satnav issues is a minor drawback.
The cottage is generally considered comfortable, with a spacious feel and good WiFi. However, some guests mention a damp smell in the master bedroom and issues with the fireplace, suggesting room for improvement in comfort.
Facilities are adequate with a well-equipped kitchen and entertainment options like WiFi and TV. However, guests have noted some maintenance issues such as the fridge door tray, the fireplace, and the need for a refresh, indicating that the facilities could be enhanced.
While guests find the cottage to be well-equipped and thoughtful in its provisions, there is no mention of gifts, so it is not possible to provide a score for thoughtfulness. It should be noted that while gifts can be a delightful surprise, they are not guaranteed.

I could easily give this cottage 5* but for a few minor niggles. Would I go back? Absolutely! It's also a matter of what you enjoy. This cottage is in the most remote location that I have experienced but for that I loved it. The niggles - putting the postcode in your satnav may take you to the isle of Skye as it did me! This meant adding 2 hrs to the journey and I arrived in the dark. A local told me that this had happened to a friend of his too so it wasn't just me - phew. There are no street lights and the names of the cottage - why it needs two names is a bit weird but 'Brightwater cottage' is carved into a tiny sign on black slate which was only discovered right next to the bins the following day in the daylight. The other name was partially hidden by the bins. The only way I found it was by luckily getting a little bit of internet and keying in 'WHAT THREE WORDS'. So that was a bit of an adventure/mission! The cottage itself felt spacious and has everything needed including a large cafeteria. The garden was not entirely enclosed and was open to the neighbouring garden but other than a few visits from a builder fixing the roof, thankfully there was noone there. The front garden is pretty secure and a lovely place to sit out for a coffee and watch a few passers by and the tidal loch. The fridge had an issue with the lower door tray and caught on the inside shelves and fell off a number of times. The freezer compartment is a small internal one so not much storage for a week. The fireplace needs attention and the lower firebrick is missing so it's hard to keep a fire going and therefore uses more logs/coal and it's a full time job. This needs attention. The master bedroom smelt like it had a damp problem. It's a bit dated but perfectly adequate. The good stuff - It's a beautiful location which pulls on the heart strings. The locals were friendly and helpful. The peace was something to experience and my dogs loved the gardens. Also it has good WiFi. This was a really relaxing holiday and yes I would love to experience Arnisdale again one day. I did a bit of art on the really wet days but for November it was pretty mild. I would highly recommend a walk down the road that leads to Arnisdale as it's magical by foot. The sandy beach at Glenelg is absolutely stunning and the sound of the gentle waves refreshed the soul.

Despite the weather. My little dog and I had a wonderful peaceful week. Only drove once to collect some fuel for the open fire. Local people in the village friendly, and welcoming. First day watched a pod of dolphins come up the Loch. Long drive from where I live, but more than worth it. Hope to come back one day.
