Please note: The grounds lead down to the river.. Cobbler’s Cottage is a fantastic little byre conversion, perfect for a couple who want to explore the far reaches of the Isle of Skye. It’s a late 19th-century byre which was used for cattle, but it is believed to have been at one stage a rural cobbler’s workshop. It’s set within the owner’s garden in a secluded, peaceful spot with uninterrupted views across the Glendale valley towards high moorland. You’ll really look forward to returning to the comfort of Cobbler’s Cottage after a day out exploring. You enter into the living area, which is an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area. It’s spacious with the kitchen especially being very generous in size, with room for preparing hearty meals of an evening. The fridge does have a small freezer compartment, there is also a slow cooker and large wok. The space is modern and comfortable, and off the living area there is a generous shower room with a large shower cubicle, and there’s a lovely double bedroom with views out across the valley towards Macleods Table and down to the Hamara River. You’re free to explore the beautifully designed and well maintained gardens at your leisure. With the chickens and family dogs following you around as you go, it’s quite the experience. Beyond the 2-acre garden, there’s a further six acres of grounds (shared with owner) to explore down to the river, where you can cast a fly for sea trout or the elusive salmon.
Beyond the grounds, the crofting community of Feriniquarrie is an extension of the better-known Glendale, which has a couple of charming cafés and a picture-perfect village shop crying out to be photographed. You’re close to Neist Point lighthouse, so a sunset experience at this world-famous spot is possible every night if you wish. There is also a restaurant a few miles down the road for that special holiday meal. Dunvegan Castle is only a little further away, and you have MacLeod’s Tables to summit if you’re feeling energetic. Other notable places you’ll want to visit are Coral beach, only 12 miles from the cottage, as well as the many sites Skye’s Trotternish peninsula has to offer, such as the Cuillin Hills area with many walks, with the added bonus of a whisky distillery nearby.
It’s a very peaceful place, a sanctuary if you will. You can see this spectacular island and enjoy very comfortable accommodation whilst you’re doing it. Beach less than a mile. Shop and coffee shop 1 mile, pub 8 miles and restaurant 3 miles.
