No smoking.. This spacious, detached house lies next to the owner’s home, in the quiet village of New Luce, with a shop and a village pub including restaurant. It provides a peaceful retreat for you and your family after a day out exploring the surrounding area. The area is a walker’s and cyclist’s paradise, with the village being directly on the Southern Upland Way, offering everything from gentle walks to challenging hikes. Only a short drive from the coast, this property is an ideal location from which to enjoy the lovely beaches. The area boasts a stunning coastline, with amazing cliff top walks, including Burrrow Head, famed for being the location of the closing scene in the cult movie ’The Wicker Man’, to the Isle of Whithorn, a walk well worth the effort. There are beaches galore to explore, everything from sandy to rugged rocky beaches.
The Mull of Galloway is home to the rspb nature reserve and is part of a much larger Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation for its seabirds, plants and coastal habitats. Here you can see many species of birdlife, the cliffs being home to guillemots, razorbills and kittiwakes, whilst ravens and peregrine falcons are regularly seen around the cliffs. Out to sea there are dolphins, porpoise and minke whale to spot. Tours can also be taken at the lighthouse. The town of Stranraer is 9 miles away and offers shops, restaurants and pubs. There are also many coastal villages to explore in the area. Sea fishing, golf and horse riding are all available locally. Day trips to Ireland can be taken from Cairnryan. Beach 7 miles. Shop 250 yards, pub 200 yards and restaurant 5 miles. Maximum occupancy 8 guests.

An excellent house,very clean and well supplied for 7 adults.Parking for 4 cars very easy and a safe area for 2 dogs to enjoy themselves. Unfortunately the restaurant and bar were only open for a short period and the local shop had very limited stock.Altogether we thoroughly enjoyed a family reunion for an 80 th birthday

Lovely place to stay. Very comfortable. We did find dog hairs under sofas that weren’t our dogs and we missed a Hoover for cleaning upstairs. Showers had some mould and it lacked comfy chairs outside. Although it states a secure garden which it is for a small dog but for our larger dog who could have easily jumped the two low gates.

The cottage was lovely, really comfortable and in a peaceful location. Unfortunately the village pub/hotel/restaurant closed down just prior to our break. I do hope someone reopens it as it is a lovely riverside location. We didn't use the village shop so can't comment. It's a 15 minute drive to Stranraer for shopping (Morrisons), and there is a shop in Glenluce too (5 miles). Seeing the cows and sheep in the meadow every day was nice, I even saw a red squirrel and deer. The games room in the garage was handy, there's darts, table tennis and a pool table. We had three cars with us and there was plenty of space around the back for all, and there is space for a couple more in front too if required. We took a drive up to Ayr one day, and the scenery is stunning on the A77. Can also recommend Landos Italian restaurant in Stranraer.
