Situated on a working cattle farm this pair of detached cottages are in the ideal location to explore Dumfries and Galloway, from the Galloway Hills and the Galloway Forest Dark Skies Park, with many hidden lochs, burns and waterfalls, to the beautiful coastline with sandy beaches, rocky coves and picturesque villages. You may even be lucky and spot seals and minke whales, and will most certainly see a host of seabirds.
The area is steeped in history and the landscape diverse, a haven for artists, birdwatchers and walkers. The Mull of Galloway, with its lighthouse and grass topped visitor centre, is Scotland’s most southerly point with amazing views of Ireland, England, the Isle of Man and Scotland! Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve is the largest local reserve in the UK. It has internationally recognised, significant numbers of pink-footed geese, greylag geese, many species of duck and wading birds, visiting in autumn and winter.
Horse riding, golf, sailing, diving and numerous walks are available in the area and with its famously mild climate and the balmy influence of the Gulf Stream, Galloway is home to some of the most beautiful and exotic gardens. Beach 3 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

A really nice place if you are looking for peace and quiet, comfortable nicely furnished and clean. A good place if you have a pet the garden is walled in at about 1 m high.

We have just arrived back from our lovely family holiday in this cottage,. Our friends stopped in the other cottage which was equally as lovely. The cottage was clean, cosy and in a lovely location with a secure, wrap around garden, perfect for the dogs and football for the kids! The views from the hot tub were amazing and on a clear night where you could watch the stars. The beds were all comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and clean. Whithorn itself is a five minute drive and has a small Coop which has all essentials. A ten minute drive further to the Isle of Whithorn and Garlieston both have a pub where you can grab a pint whilst looking over the harbours. Wigtown is a must if you like books, and Books and Bakes serve delicious soups and cakes. The Mull of Galloway and Port Patrick were an hours drive from the cottage and are beautiful. The owner of the cottage was brilliant and gave us lots of ideas for walks and places to visit. When you serve there is tea and coffee but make sure you take some milk! Morrisons do deliver to this cottage if you want to do a food order when you arrive. Thank you for our lovely stay, we will definatley plan a trip back! :-)

We have visited Cotters Cottage three times now for a dog friendly holiday. The cottage is perfect for a relaxing holiday, has all the amenities you would need, the hot tub is fabulous and if you’re lucky to be there on a clear night, perfect for star gazing. The garden is secure so our dog was able to wonder freely without worry, and there are plenty of beautiful walks around to enjoy. We will no doubt be back in the future!
