Moffat, a town in the Annandale valley, grew from a village in the 17th century to a spa town in the 18th and 19th centuries due to the belief that the sulphurous waters of the Moffat Well had healing properties. Many of the town's structures are from this era, and the current Town Hall was first constructed as a bath house. The original well is still accessible, and it is located 1.5 miles outside of town in the countryside. Along with its reputation as a spa town, Moffat's importance increased as a result of the wool trade and its use as a stopover on routes between England and Scotland. The town is now quite popular with tourists, and it's not just because of the breath-taking scenery that makes for fantastic walking, cycling, and fishing options.

Modern and clean apartment with very large comfortable bed and great sitting/kitchen area, with smart tv. Hive heating meant we could easily boost heat when we felt cold (temperature outside was minus 6) and plenty of hot water. Met owner who was pleasant and respectful.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. The apartment was lovely, spacious and well equipped. The location was very central, and we were not disturbed at all.

Overlooking the main street, so great for people watching whilst drinking your morning coffee. There are plenty of good walks from the front door, and loads more a short drive away. David the owner made us feel very welcome and was very attentive. Unfortunately we cut our stay short by a day, escaping from the coming storm. Had we stayed David offered us the flat free of charge for the weekend. All in all a great week.
