Auchengool House receives high praise for its cleanliness, prime location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, including a hot tub, and the owner's attentiveness. The property's charm and thoughtful touches, such as a welcome pack, contribute to a delightful stay.
Guests consistently mention the immaculate condition of the house, highlighting its cleanliness as a standout feature.
The property's central location in Kirkcudbright, close to the harbour, markets, and local attractions, is highly valued by guests.
The house is described as cosy and comfortable, with very comfy beds and a warm atmosphere, although there is a mention of low doorways causing inconvenience for taller individuals.
The property boasts well-maintained facilities, including a hot tub, well-kitted kitchen, and garden area. However, a few guests noted the limited number of toilets for a house of its size.
While guests express gratitude for the welcome pack and the owner's helpfulness, there is not enough information to guarantee such gifts for future stays, and thus the score is set to null.

Since the late 19th century, Kirkcudbright has been renowned as an artists’ colony, with artists such as Jessie M King, E A Hornel and Charles Oppenheimer making it their home.
Today it is known as “The Artists’ Town” of Dumfries and Galloway, and in 2018 the Kirkcudbright Galleries opened, which showcases world class art as well as the work of the local artists. This lovely town on the Estuary, still has a busy and bustling harbour where you can watch the fishing boats return with their catch. Stroll through the town and visit the famous Broughton House, once home of E. A. Hornel or experience the Arts and Crafts Trail. Throughout the year the town hosts a diverse range of annual events from Farmers’ Markets, Country Fair, the Jazz Festival, Festival of Light, the Riding of the Marches and of course the spectacular Tattoo, an event not to be missed. With some lovely little shops dotted around the town and fabulous places to eat the town is an ideal location to base yourself while exploring this delightful area. There are also many varied and interesting walks which you can take from the town, from scenic coastal walks to forest trails. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (National Trust for Scotland). Celebrated our golden wedding anniversary with our family. We all enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed the hot tub. There was a lovely welcome pack left for us. The house was lovely and just across the road from harbour and next to village, which we were lucky to be there for the farmers market on the Sunday. Alan was very helpful and was there every day checking the ph levels in hot tub. We would be happy to return for another stay.

brilliant house , lovely owner showed us around and gave us lots of info regarding area. House is immaculate , very well kitted out for example -plastic for hot tub and glassware for house ranging from lovely wine glasses to gin glasses. Lovely welcome basket full of goodies on arrival. Garden area superb and lovely big hot tub ( with hooks around it for towels etc , hot tub very clean , and Alan ( owner) came daily to check ph levels. Garden area has lovely lights for darker nights at table and hot tub. Bed comfortable and rooms cosy. Dining room brilliant and roomy. The house has a quirkiness about it , the decor is fab. Dishwasher was a life saviour for us also and tablets were provided :). I went as group of 8 women who do a yearly trip and this house by far was not only the cleanest but it had everything you needed utensil wise, which believe me makes a difference. WIFI great throughout house and garden with 8 people using it. Brill house , great area , kind owner and fantastic stay.

Excellent cottage in a stunning location. Owners very welcoming and helpful. The house is fab although our very tall son did keep banging his head on the ceiling. However, it is a great place too stay and right in the centre.
