Machermore Cottage is praised for its cleanliness, peaceful rural setting, and wildlife encounters. Guests enjoy the tranquility, views, and well-equipped amenities, making it a lovely retreat for those seeking a quiet holiday. The presence of wildlife like hares, deer, and birds adds to the charm.
The cottage receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests noting it as spotless and well-presented. The attention to cleanliness contributes significantly to the comfort of the stay.
The location is highly appreciated for its peace, quiet, and wildlife, offering fantastic views and a rural charm. Its distance from amenities is noted, but this is part of the appeal for those seeking a rural experience.
Guests find the cottage warm, comfortable, and roomy, with good internet and power sockets. However, a mention of small beds for adults suggests a slight deduction in the comfort score.
The cottage is well-equipped with necessary appliances, but comments about the lack of a starter pack for the fire and a suggestion for a BBQ indicate room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
There are no mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

Machermore is a lovely cottage in a rural area with great views. There are no local amenities but I'd researched the area and knew that and that's why I only gave it average. I saw a hare running around the field opposite and a roe deer whilst driving back up the lane which was lovely to see. The only thing I can say that needs addressing is the small patches of black mold starting to show in the double bedroom. There is an open fire but no starter pack to use it and no information regarding the use of the fire at all. I would take a fire pack myself especially in the colder weather just to be prepared as a couple of days were quite cold. It wouldn't put me off going again though as it is so peaceful and relaxing which is what I wanted.

A beautifully, well presented, clean bungalow. Fantastic views, surrounded by fields of sheep and cows. If you like peace, quiet and wildlife this is the place to visit. About a mile from a main road and a 20 minute drive to Stranraer. Would highly recommend.
