About this property

Providing warm and welcoming accommodation, Westpark Cottage is a charming terraced cottage, offering the perfect retreat in the beautiful Dumfries and Galloway. Just a short stroll from a selection of wonderful attractions including the Dumfries Museum and Camera Obscura Museum, it's a wonderful base for your exploration of Scotland. Step inside this terraced worker's cottage, dating back to the early 20th Century, it's a true bolt hole for solo travellers, couples and small groups of friends. Modest but perfectly formed, the rooms have been well-thought-out, commencing with an entrance hall. A door off to the right of the hall leads to the ground-floor bedroom which can be set up with either a single with a bedside table and lamp, or twin beds, to suit your needs. Step into the open-plan living space to find a sitting area, ideal for those cosy nights in, centred by a woodburning stove, where you can enjoy the warmth of the fire and watch the flames from the plush sofa and armchair, whilst making the most of the digital radio, TV and DVD player for your evening entertainment. Or gather together around the dining table, enjoying a selection of books and board games for an evening of family fun. The kitchen just off the sitting and dining areas hosts all the essential appliances needed to whip up a delicious meal when you're not out exploring the delicacies of the local area. From the sitting area, carpeted stairs lead up to the first floor, where an inviting double bedroom awaits, with sloped ceilings which give that all-important cottage feeling, as well as boasting ample storage space for your personal belongings. Back on the ground floor, make your way to the rear of the cottage to find the gleaming bathroom fully equipped with a bath and shower over, as well as a door leading you to the enclosed patio, a true suntrap in the summer months for you and your pets to enjoy. Today, Dumfries is an inspiring town with much to offer its visitors; art galleries and cultural opportunities abound, and literary enthusiasts can visit sites central to the life of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns, or spend time at the fantastic new Peter Pan museum at Moat Brae House. A leisurely stroll downhill will bring you to the local arthouse cinema, the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre, or venture further afield to the Solway coastline where you can find sandy beaches and rocky inlets, to the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park and the Lowther Hills. Nearby Mabie Forest and the Forest of A’e offer excellent walking and cycling on the famous 7Stanes trails, or visit the notable Caerlaverock Castle and do some bird watching at the National Nature Reserve or indulge in some fabulous local fare in the cafes and delicatessens at Loch Arthur, Glencaple and Kilnford Barns. Westpark Cottage is a beautiful home-from-home, in a desirable location for exploring the many wonders of Scotland.

Dumfries is a bustling market town in Scotland. Known as the 'Queen of the South', it offers a wide range of activities to entertain all ages, at any time of year. Ideally located for exploring the coast, where you can find golden, sandy beaches and beautiful views, as well as being in easy reach of the Galloway Hills and the Ae Forest with ample walking and cycling routes, there's so much to explore here.
