Well appointed house in a lovely village on the Solway Firth, with its own little private outside space. Good location for exploring some delightfully understated coastal villages and countryside. Cosy pub next door, and good value lunches to be had at Colvend golf club (open to all) a few miles along the coast.

Delightful, well appointed coastguards house in a pretty village with fabulous views over the Solway Firth. Lots of interesting places within a short drive including Arbigland Gardens, Threave House, Castle and Gardens, Caerlaverock Castle, Kipford and Dumfries. The wildlife is fantastic. We saw deer, hares, rabbits, osprey, peregrin falcons, red kites and many different types of birds and ducks.Next door is an excellent pub with draught beer and good food. Nearest shop is a minimart at Southerness 5 miles away. Decent shops in Dumfries 12 miles away.Great place to stay if you love countryside, walking, wildlife and peace.Your advert said towels not provided but ample towels were provided.

Lovely cottage and right next door to the pub that does excellent food. The beach just a stones throw from the garden and is great for walks. Theirs a bus that comes to the pub car park going to Dumfries or Dalbeattie which is great as we were able to have a day out without driving or finding parking must check the timetable though. Overall a fantastic getaway.
