Nature lovers can enjoy the RSPB Mersehead Nature Reserve (1.5 miles), an extensive wetland filled with an abundance of resident birds and wildlife. Visit galleries and museums at Castle Douglas (16 miles), which also has an abundance of great cafes and restaurants. Take the kids for a day out at Bainloch Deer Park (4 miles) or Mabie Farm Park (11 miles) close to Dumfries.
