Castle Douglas, 14.5 miles away, is a popular destination for self-confessed foodies, complete with a wide selection of butchers, bakers and delis offering fresh produce, along with pubs and restaurants serving hearty local fare. National Cycle Route 7 runs through the town, another highlight for keen cyclists.
