If you are bringing your bike along to Thorn View, be sure to visit the internationally famous 7stanes Mountain Bike Trail in Dalbeattie Forest, with trails to suit beginners, families and experts. Alternatively, head to the coastline to spend time within the quaint village of Colvend, home to an 18-hole parkland golf course and is a short distance from Sandyhills, where you will find a beach with golden sands, a perfect place to relax and take in the many stunning views. Further afield is the town of Castle Douglas, a designated Food Town with around 50 local businesses either producing or selling quality food and drink, as well as the National Trust property of Threave Garden, House and Estate, which is well worth a visit. The larger town of Dumfries is also nearby, where you will find a further selection of amenities and attractions including Dumfries Museum, Robert Burns’ House and the ruins of Lincluden Collegiate Church. Other attractions within the surrounding area, certain to delight a family of all ages and tastes, includes Bainloch Deer Park, the 14th Century Threave Castle and the Galloway Faerie Trail.
