Dalbeattie, a charming rural community, is located in Scotland's southwest. The town, which provides access to the gorgeous Solway Coast with its kilometres of beaches and charming fishing villages, is located within a wooded valley on the River Urr. The granite quarry that once made Dalbeattie famous exported stone all over the world, most notably for the Thames Embankment and Eddystone Lighthouse. Today, it is well known for its outdoor activities, including the nearby 7stanes mountain biking complex and Glentrool's forest walks, where you can retrace Richard Hannay's steps from The Thirty Nine Steps.
