Kippford is a busy sailing centre and other outdoor activities are well catered for in the local area with Horse Riding, fishing of all sorts, golf of all sorts with a 9 hole course at Kippford, 18 holes at nearby Colvend and the Southerness links championship course only a few miles further on round the Solway coast. Wildlife can be seen where ever you are with red squirrels in most areas and excellent bird watching at rspb Mersehead reserve and also on the Red Kite trail near Loch Ken. For those looking for strenuous pursuits the Forestry Commission 7stanes trails are all easily accessible and the Dalbeattie woods trail is less than a 5 minute drive away.
