A little further afield, Sandyhills Beach (3 miles) is another picturesque spot for sunbathing, swimming and invigorating coastal walks with views towards the Cumbrian coastline. Keen cyclists can also take advantage of long-distance routes and thrilling mountain biking trails nearby, including the renowned 7Stanes trails at Dalbeattie (5 miles).
