Drive 3.5 miles north to find Dalbeattie Forest, which offers a mix of tranquil walking paths, scenic viewpoints, picnic spots and mountain biking trails, while a mile further on, the town has a range of shops and eateries where you can source tasty supplies and unique souvenirs. Alternatively, drive less than 3 miles east and discover Sandyhills Beach, which is famous for its golden sands and dramatic tidal changes, while even closer to home Kippford and Rockcliffe sit beside the River Urr. The Jubilee Path links these two pretty villages – follow the 2-mile trail past ancient hill forts and flowering meadows. Further afield, the historic towns of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright are less than 20 miles from your doorstep, while romantic Sweetheart Abbey and historic Threave Castle are within 16 miles.
