A popular sailing destination, the village sits along the northern shore of the Solway Firth, with a lovely beach just to the east at Sandyhills (4.5 miles). To the north, the historic town of Dalbeattie (4 miles) is home to a theatre, golf club and museum, with nearby attractions including Buittle Castle, Dalbeattie Reservoir and Plantain Loch, all within 7 miles. Heading inland, Threave Castle and Threave Garden and Nature Reserve are on the outskirts of the popular town of Castle Douglas (10 miles).
