Stamford Bridge was a fording site for a Roman colony over the River Derwent, as its name indicates. It is currently a community with a variety of stores and restaurants, as well as a restored viaduct that is now a cycle and walkway. The picturesque Yorkshire market towns of Malton, Beverley, and Driffield are within easy driving distance, along with the pristine seaside resort of Filey with its open beaches and the adjoining rspb nature reserve at Bempton.
