Beautiful property in lovely peaceful location very close to the racecourse and York centre. There were items left in the kitchen such as milk, orange juice and a bottle of wine which was a nice touch, there was however only one teabag left in the box of tea! Luckily we had our own.We arrived during a heatwave, the ground floor of the property was cool but the first floor was very hot, too hot to sleep even with all of the windows open, sadly we were unable to find any fans in the property. All three couples reported the matresses were uncomfortable (soft and could feel the springs particularly the room with the two single beds) The parking is a bonus but tight for larger vehicles both through the gate into the garden parking space and in the garage, one of the neighbours was not very friendly when we were packing the cars and maneuvering two vehicles to leave, despite us moving one vehicle so she could get out. The furniture is lovely but the sofa is so low to the ground it was difficult to get on and off not suitable for the elderly or anyone with mobilitu or flexibility issues, but all said we enjoyed our break away.

A really lovely house with a dog-friendly garden and parking. Superbly located for an easy stroll into the city, either along the main road or a more leisurely walk along the river, taking in Rowntree Park and cafe. The huge open space by York Racecourse is a moment’s walk from the property, and just further on is the popular Old Liquor Store bar restaurant( and useful Cooperative store) , on the site of the historic Terrys factory. We much appreciated the welcome pack and nice touches such as the nespresso machine. The bathrooms especially were spotless, and towels and linen of a high quality. Overall, a very comfortable stay.

The Lodge provides excellent accommodation throughout, is ideally located to York centre (15 - 20 min walk). The hosts left a selection of treats (wine, milk and bakery items) which was a lovely gesture. The accommodation was spotless and comfortable. Definitely recommend the property and we intend to return.
