Set in the North York Moors National Park in the quaint village of Fadmoor is The Farmhouse, a traditional character cottage. Perfect for a family, friends, or couples, this quintessential farmhouse cottage boasts exposed beams and a woodburning stove for a homely break. As you arrive at the cottage, unload your bags before heading to the kitchen/diner for a hearty home-cooked meal using the Range cooker. From here, move through to the sitting room to cosy up in front of the flickering woodburning stove. As you grow tired, climb the stairs to the bedrooms on the first floor; a double and a twin are served by a family bathroom, while the master, another double, has a handy en-suite shower room. When you wake, enjoy a coffee in the conservatory, in the garden on the decking, or join like-minded holidaymakers in the shared garden. Enjoy a traditional farm stay at The Farmhouse. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 1123588 & 1123586, together sleeping up to 12 guests.
Fadmoor, a picturesque community of old stone cottages in the North York Moors National Park, is 2.5 miles from Kirkbymoorside, a charming market town. Kirkbymoorside is a delightful area with a slightly 'old fashioned vibe', and visitors will find plenty to keep them engaged in the many tea shops, taverns and restaurants there. The superb walking and stunning scenery of the National Park are on the doorstep, and there are several picturesque villages, such as Hutton-le-Hole, near by.

The house was comfortable, well-equipped, and clean throughout, with a big kitchen (including a large dining table), and a separate table to eat at more formally (or do jigsaws on!) next door adjacent to the large but still cosy sitting room with its wood burner, TV and DVD player. Good wifi too - perfectly reasonably given the building's construction it doesn't reach all upstairs areas of the property, but then hopefully you aren't coming to Fadmoor to spend time on devices whilst in bed! We found mobile/4g data reception generally decent. There are really nice back garden and courtyard areas for kids and/or dogs to run around in. The courtyard can be gated off from the anyway-super-quiet access road, so we were happy to let our young two- and four-legged companions to roam freely outdoors. From local footpaths we made a nice 10km walking loop west across fields and clockwise round to the really good Royal Oak in Gillamoor (our dog had to be mostly on the lead because of livestock in fields, and needed to be carried over fence stiles, but no dramas). But there's also easy and quick driving access to the moors (amazing food and beer at the Lion on Blakey Ridge), and to the coast and Dalby Forest and the steam railway and lots of other places, and, for provisions, to the Coop in Kirbymoorside, or Lidl and other options in Pickering slightly further away. We didn't have time to visit unfortunately but it looks like there's a community pub open from time to time in Fadmoor itself just over the village green from the property - worth checking out! Thanks for a great stay!

The property is very cosy and comfortable but there were a couple of little niggles: It was not as clean as it could be on arrival, with breadcrumbs on the kitchen table and the toilet in the en suite not flushed properly and cleaned, the range was too dirty to use, amongst other minor things. There are also a few maintenance issues, the wash basin in the main bathroom is not on the plinth properly, the toilet seat downstairs is not secured properly, a small leak from the en suite shower dripped down the beam in the lounge. The extractor fan in the en suite was turned off and too high to reach to switch on. The toilet in the main bathroom is very noisy on flushing and there were lights not working on the stairway. Some areas of the carpet is not secured causing a trip hazard. More towels and cups (some cups were too stained to use) would have been appreciated. Much of this sounds negative but they are mostly easy fixes and we want the owners to be aware. Overall our stay was very relaxing and comfortable.

The cottage was very comfortable and is in an ideal location for the Yorkshire Dales and also the coastal towns. Walked to the Royal Oak at nearby Gillamoor, a nice stroll of just under 15 minutes, and enjoyed 2 excellent dinners there. Would love to visit the Cottage again at some future time.
