About this property

Kirkbymoorside 3.5 miles. Positioned within a beautiful and quiet courtyard setting, on the southerly fringes of the North York Moors National Park, is Barn Cottage. This beautiful homestay rests in the hamlet of Marton, just outside of Kirkbymoorside, giving you access to Helmsley, Pickering and so much more. Stone-built, with a pantile roof, this converted barn offers a family of four or a group of friends the opportunity to explore a wonderful region of Yorkshire. Park up your car in front of the garage or directly in front of the cottage and step into the hallway, where you can kick off your walking boots and hang your coats after a brisk countryside trail. This then leads through to a contemporary, well-equipped kitchen/diner, complete with lovely, fitted units and a large dresser, in which you can stock all of your favourite treats. This lovely room offers seating for four and is a homely space to host family dinners around the dining table. After washing up, head into the cosy sitting room and unwind with your loved ones, choosing to watch a programme on the Freesat TV or simply chat about the day's events and plan tomorrow's. The oak flooring and beautiful stone fireplace add bundles of character to the cottage, allowing you to make the most of a country cottage getaway with the warmth of a woodburning stove. Upstairs is a double bedroom and a twin with zip/link beds, both containing fitted wardrobes and served by the family bathroom, where a bath with shower over is perfect for an afternoon bubble bath. Outside, the enclosed garden offers a delightful little suntrap with a lawn and seating to relax on or dine alfresco. This charming hamlet of Marton gives you splendid access to a variety of walking trails and cycling routes, as well as days out along the Heritage Coast, with Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay within easy reach. Kirkbymoorside offers plenty of amenities such as tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, whilst Pickering is a short journey east; ride the steam train through scenic countryside, or explore the city of York, with its shops, medieval cathedral and many vibrant eateries serving delicious food. With so much to see and do in the area, Barn Cottage makes a wonderful choice for your next UK holiday.

Kirkbymoorside is a charming, historic market town on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, halfway between Helmsley and Pickering. This quaint town has a lot of Yorkshire charm, serving as the hub for the surrounding farms and towns. There are a number of shops to choose from, including tea houses, taverns, and restaurants, as well as antique shops, and a market day is held every Wednesday The National Park's superb walking and scenery are close by.

The quality of the fixtures and furniture in the cottage is very high, making it easy to move into as a home from home. We really enjoyed our time there.

Just an observation about the key code as it is always the same 1947. I treat the cottage with respect but some one may not be as honest as me and copy the actual key, ergo they could get in any time. I chatted to one if the neighbours about this and they agreed. IT IS NOT A CRITICISM just something to think about. I will be back soon and thank Michael Strong for me for allowing me to stay there so often
