Adelaide's Cottage in Pickering offers a cosy and warm stay with a convenient location that allows for walking access to local attractions. Guests have enjoyed the festive atmosphere and the thoughtful welcome package provided by the owner. However, some guests noted issues with cleanliness, particularly concerning pet hair and maintenance aspects like the shower and windows.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Several reviews mention problems with cleanliness, including the presence of dog hair on furniture and carpets, damp and smelly towels, and a vacuum cleaner that was not functioning properly. These issues suggest that the cleaning standards could be improved.

The location of the cottage is highly praised, with guests appreciating its proximity to local shops, eateries, and attractions. The ability to enjoy the area without needing to use a car is a significant positive aspect.

Guests have found the cottage to be cosy and warm, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. However, some discomfort was caused by the presence of pet hair and issues with dampness and windows.

The cottage is equipped with kitchen utensils and a freezer, which guests found useful, especially during Christmas. However, there were complaints about the lack of a dustpan, a malfunctioning vacuum, a leaking shower hose, and windows that either wouldn't open or let in water.

The owner's thoughtfulness is evident in the provision of a welcome package, which was highly appreciated by guests. It is important to note that such gestures are at the owner's discretion and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

On arrival we were given 1 bath towel each. I bath mat and 1 hand towel. We would like to let you know that the shower hose is leaking wasting a lot of water..The windows swelled with the damp and we could not open them. The Master bedroom window allows water in when raining . Hope this helps for future improvements.

The speed the cottage was cleaned as we were a late booking was amazing this was done to a very high standard. The bed was comfortable, good shower, more than enough kitchen utensils, crockery etc, for cooking/eating in and on an evening it was warm and cosy throughout. Thank you also for the welcome package it was very welcomed indeed totally unexpected - thank you to the owner for making it all happen so quickly we had a fantastic week in Pickering.

There was a lot of dog hair still in the property - my husbands black fleece was covered in fine white dog hair after sitting on the settee and his black socks were also covered from the carpet. We tried to use the vacuum to give it a clean but to be honest it was not really working very well. There was also a lack of a dustpan which would of made things a bit easier to keep clean when entering the kitchen from the outside. The shower hose (externally) needs a really good clean and this was full of black mould in the grooves and it all needs to be re masticked around the shower as this was mouldy (not great when you suffer with asthma). On a whole when you look past this we did enjoy our stay but feel it could be cleaned a little better between visitors.
