The historic city of York is just 8 miles away and there are regular buses into the centre, or easy access from the park and ride at the designer outlet (5 miles). York appeals to all ages with its abundance of attractions including the iconic Minster, National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre. There are street entertainers and ghost walks along the cobbled alleyways, numerous festivals and markets throughout the year and a wide choice of inns, restaurants and tearooms. Wheldrake Ings, a significant conservation area and nature reserve is close by and the Yorkshire Air Museum and Museum of Farming provide a fascinating insight into the past, whilst throughout the summer lots of family fun can be found at the York Maze. The North York Moors, Yorkshire Wolds and the Heritage coastline are all easily accessible. Shop, pub and restaurant 600 yards, Italian café 800 yards. Fantastic weekend break for the 3 of us.Cottage comfortable and the added advantage of the hottub was great for an evening.Wenlock arms just down the road great for fresh cooked food

Great little cottage and perfect location for exploring the area. The park and ride so close was an added bonus. Only negative was the hot tub needs attention
