About this property

Resting in the seaside town of Scarborough, just a short walk from the beach and town amenities, is this traditional, mid-terrace property, South Bay Cottage. Set over four floors and enjoying sea views from the top bedrooms, this is an ideal base for a family break by the sea. After an action-packed day out, kick back in the sitting room, appointed with two settees in front of the woodburning stove, along with a TV for entertainment. Move to the lower ground floor to find the kitchen, appointed with all the essentials to whip up your favourite feasts, including an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and even a washing machine, so you can easily pop your muddy clothes for a wash. Serve the fruits of your labour at the dining table, complemented with a glass of prosecco as you discuss which part of Yorkshire to tackle next. The property's three bedrooms lie across a number of floors; they include a snug single, a classy four poster double and a delightful double room overlooking this fabulous town and the bay in the distance. Start your morning with a quick rinse in the shower room before preparing breakfast to be enjoyed in the enclosed garden and decking. When you’re ready to explore, take a short stroll into Scarborough, ambling along the golden beach, or tour the 3000-year-old castle, boasting far-reaching views of the rugged coastline or view the marine life close up at Sea Life. The Cleveland Way is a lovely coastal walk that also skirts the Yorkshire Moors leading onto many more scenic routes. Enjoy a trip on the steam train that spans through the stunning scenery from nearby Pickering and Grosmont or explore Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby to the North and Filey and Bempton Cliffs to the South. With all this, plus the natural splendour of the North York National Park just a short drive away, South Bay Cottage is the perfect choice for that well-deserved holiday by the sea.

The bustling seaside town of Scarborough has maintained a lot of its original features, with its parks, gardens, buildings and ancient castle. Nearby are North Bay and South Bay for wonderful sandy beaches. Scarborough offers fantastic diversions, such as Scarborough Spa, Stephen Joseph Theatre and outdoor activities including golf and coastal walks. Ideally located within easy reach of the moors and coastline, Scarborough is an excellent base for a fun getaway.

Hopefully we managed to use the permit correctly having never used one before! It’s a tight dead end road but you can park anywhere with the A2 signage apparently if you prefer. No negatives at this quirky 5 star home from home. Be aware there is no access to Wi-Fi TV like Netflix or Prime, there is far too much to do outside of the house. If I had to give feedback perhaps consider changing the shower heads and the grip tape on the shower deck although this could be a hard water issue and a dvd player would be useful. There are lots of charity shops to mooch around and plenty of food establishments are dog friendly but the beach is not. Otherwise we had a great time in Scarborough it’s a fair hike getting some exercise steps in up and down the streets and using this as our base was perfect for our family of five and whippet, it got rather cosy in the small living room but there are various levels to this place to sit and enjoy.

The cottage is beautiful and location is amazing too. We have 2 little boys who walked into main Scarborough really well we barely used the car at all as parking permit was provided and always had a parking space. Only took us around 9 minutes with our little ones to walk the 2 roads to main Scarborough (beach front). The property itself had everything we needed. Although the kitchen looks small it’s like Mary poppins handbag it’s the gift that keeps on giving it’s got everything you need and more there’s more than enough space to cook a family meal and the dining room is lovely too. We also took our pooch and was happy to see there was a bit of a garden meaning she could go freely in and outside when she wanted too. Thank you Liam and Julia for having us. We will be returning xxx
